I totally get the frustration. The Blazers are my favorite team, and i would be up in arms if i was facing this situation. Us fans just want to see the games. NBCNW was great for me in Springfield the last 2 and a half years. I got it through Hulu, and it worked for me at a decent price. I love the Blazers, but their organization people, in charge of this, completely dropped the ball. This should have been fixed, & ready, months ago. I wish all of you access to see our team before the regular season starts. Good Luck & Go Blazers!!

I watched last nights game from the birds nest, right between the sails of me clipper. Quality was fantastic.

yes. Because it isnt in the best interest of its customers. This isnt a production facility. Its entertainment. Without fans there is no team.

This is the same route commiecast took

Lets hire subcontractors so we can have an out and say, not our problem.

yeah. This is a valid complaint from the fans.

In order to make about $8.5 billion in sub fees (the amount of their apparent new contract) the NBA would have to charge the 1.4 million fans who watch games every night about $30 per month for their 7 month season.

And that's assuming you could get all 1.4 million to sign up without other cable services. Looks like teams make over $7 billion per year from ads. I'm not sure how much overlap exists with those numbers.

    Cable companies need to die.

The threshold should not be 8 billion. The NBA can afford to take fewer profits in the short term if it means are more widespread audience in the long term. They don't seem to agree with this mindset as this would affect the owners' 500x return on investment just from valuation alone. How someone can rationalize this is only a distributor problem is laughable to me. We're in this problem in the first place because of the owners and the league as a whole.

We're 5 years away from one of the sports betting sites buying the broadcast rights to a sports league and then broadcasting their games for free. Instead of TV timeouts, there will be betting timeouts. Almost everything will be a betting opportunity during a game. "Will Lillard miss this free throw?" "Will the next made basket be a dunk?" It will be like Pop Up Video but instead popup betting opportunities.

    AND IT WILL SUCK!

how is that worse than the current scenario? at least the games would be visible.

BTW, do you know League Pass actually had pop ups show up last year the start of quarters asking trivia questions, etc, and you could not simply close them? And EVEN if you disagreed to being asked questions early in the game, they would still show up again every quarter.

    that kinda shit already exists.

But it’s been this way for 10 plus years and nobody has gone anywhere. Nobody has stopped going to games or buying tickets. Nobody. Nothing is different. Now all of a sudden outrage. Until Dish bounced, more people were going to actually be able to watch. Now not anymore. Once again this is on Root, not the team. They can legally do nothing about this.

You brother have the craziest League pass on earth. Everything you complain about every year is simply your experience. Never in my 20 years of having it have I seen a pop up trivia on any of my screens. Maybe whatever teams broadcast you were watching was adding it, but that isn’t an NBA LEAGUE PASS thing.

Yeah if I remember right Blazers ask a trivia question pretty much every game.

So why is that okay to just say "well I'm happy the business is making money even if I can't enjoy the product"?

Businesses are supposed to be mutually benefitting in order to keep delivering the product. Not just make money and then shut people out. What kind of long term solid investment is that in 20 years? It's a mirror of society, really. The few get rich while the rest work for them.

I think therein lies the big problem people have.

I've seen the trivia thing too when I do league pass as well. On almost any stream.

That being said, I think there's a setting to turn it off.

See, i think thats part of the problem in many peoples’ eyes. Nothing has changed.
But in reality, everything has been changing/evolving.
Cable will go away one day.

The frustration is, a team that has such a techy savvy edge, isn’t trying to stay ahead of the curve on this.

Im not sure Mr. Allen would have just sat and let this happen without working to satisfy both entities of viewers, plugged and unplugged.

I believe the Blazers should have paid more to be on a larger Channel that has more viewing options. Pay more in the short term will pay off in the long run with a larger fan base.
The whole NW is up for grabs with no other team around.
I would have done everything possible to make sure the channel i contract with, had established contracts with both cable and streaming entities.
