Great points. Wish that is how things worked out. It’s a business unfortunately.

Please, everybody contact their provider and demand them to carry the Trail Blazers. It’s a simple supply and demand …use your voice for change!!! The team has no pull at this point. You can complain to the team all you want, but the ball is not in their court.

I mean they should have done that 10+ years ago as well during last contract negotiations right? A TON of people were not able to watch games the last decade, now rage?

I’m quite sure that the ‘Die hard fans” like that are on here are indeed the minority of the fan base.

Blazers should simply offer their own streaming service. Whatever $5 to $10 a month and we get all the games. Make it easy for the fans.

I can't speak for the people who are raging. I was annoyed with it 10 years ago, I'm annoyed now, but I'd pay $100/month the watch the Blazers on TV, so I'm not the median customer.

But do you blame this business for choosing the deal that makes them the most money. They are going to make one that loses revenue right? The TON of the fan base hasn’t been able to watch games in over a decade and I’m quite sure the fan base has grown actually. Seats ares till getting filled and gear is being purchased.

fAir enough. However the Blazers elected to go with Root.
If i cant watch the Blazers outside of comcast zones, in turning in my tickets.

what kind of tv contracts are given to teams that cant get fans in the seats?

I just dont think Blazers were thinking big picture/long term.

as @BonesJones pointed out Root is difficult to deal with and the Blazers still went with them.
Have to hold the Blazers/mcgowan partly responsible.

I hear ya brother. I’m finding out with you guys today that my family, who has sat down and watched our first preseason games in our living room for the first time ever, only can do that 2 more times, then back to how it used to be. VERY frustrating for us. But, maybe because I kinda’ understand the business side of it, I know who to aim my anger towards. Took my own advice and just emailed ROOT.

Nobody knew in June that Root Sports would operate like a greedy business? Had you asked me in June, I could've told you that. You don't think McGowen is smart enough to realize that? He knew, he just did the calculus that it was worth it.

Let me be on record moving forward: All future providers the Blazers deal with are likely to be greedy and if the Blazers #1 goal is to maximize distribution (it isn't), then they should negociate the contract accordingly.

Again, I get the Blazers logic. I don't love it, I'm not sure it's the smartest move long term, but I get it.

Yeah, they just dealt with the same exact thing with Comcast.

They damn well should have had contingencies in place for this exact scenario (if maximum number of viewers were their priority).

Understood and you have that right to not re-up your tix. You ask what kind of contract is given out to teams. Well we just got a new big one and like I’ve said….HUGE chunk of the fan base hasnt’ seen a game in over a decade and the fans are still knocking down the door to get in. So, I’m not sure everybody’s definition of “Big Picture/Long Term” But that seems like ample time for people to rise up with their complaints and demands.

Not worth it. Did that with Comcast 10 years ago. Screw them. I'll just opt out.

I get what you're saying. Since I also kinda underand the business side of it as well; to imply the Blazers were totally blind-sided by this and had no way of mitigating this from happening is a naive stance.

You guys keep saying big picture, long term…..what do you think is going to happen honestly? EVERY SINGLE TEAM IN EVERY SINGLE MAJOR LEAGUE SPORT (besides the NFL, because they have no regional, local broadcasts) take the best offer they get. Most money they are offered. EVERY SINGLE TEAM!

As you should. that’s just it, everybody has that right. Enough people do it, maybe a message gets heard. I’ll bring up Denver again….. people IN Denver haven’t seen their NBA or NHL team play on tv in YEARS!

Perfect. Have at it. Then a bunch of people will pirate it. No need to feel bad about it.

No need to feel bad about helping people figure out how to pirate it either...
