id start nas. Nances veteranship, i think is needed, with zeller coming off the bench. They are our only vets off the bench currently. Plus i think nas is our future three. Might as well start getting him acclimated.
Imo, depends on which forward pairing will defend PG13 better. In general, I'd want Nas to start on place of Norm, but against the Clips, I think I'd go with Nance.
I don't think it makes a difference who starts. I see three options playing the two forward spots right now with NP and Snell out. Nance, Little and Roco. That is 30 minutes apiece for those three with another 6 minutes for either Brown or McLemore. So with those 3 taking all the minutes does it matter who starts?
you missed DSJ. My guess is he will get minutes before McLemore. Brown probably isn’t even an option right now. Elleby is prob ahead of him.
Just glad Norm just has an inflamed tendon....it's not torn from what I read so ice and rest should calm it down..he'll need to wear a knee sleeve
Elleby can actually really defend, I’ve been pretty impressed by it. He doesn’t do anything else, but that’s always valued.
agree...he's not a bad rebounder either and he gets the occasional steal and actually throw an alley oop pass for Greg Brown in one game....he doesn't need to look for his shot. Chauncey seems to like him
Hoping we go with our future--Nassir Little. He was the guy who got subbed in when Powell came out early in the 3rd, so it seems like the scale tips a little more towards him maybe in coach's mind. I'm really quite all right with either Nance or Little, though, tbh. Nance gives you better screens and defense and passing. Little gives you athleticism and hustle and a scoring mentality. It might be a good idea to keep Nas coming off the bench to keep him hustling. I've seen guys get too much too soon and it wasn't great for the work habits. It's also not a terrible look to kick the tires on Ant. That kid is balling too. I wouldn't be mad if he got 30 minutes of run. That makes us extra small, but man that's a lot of shooting. This beats the fuck out of Tolliver, Hezonja and Melo. Jesus our cupboard was bare.
I didn't miss Smith. I see him in the regular rotation all year as the backup PG next to Simons. But I do see your point about Elleby for 3 minutes each half especially if Batum is the opponent he is matched up against.... since Nic does not shoot that much. However, I can also see Brown in as well if we are just going with the best defensive player at SF for those 6 minutes a game. Another shot blocker on the court does not hurt. He just needs to focus on D unless he is around the basket. And McLemore as well if we need to spread the floor. Ben has played SF at times in the past. Again we are not talking about a lot of minutes for these players, since I envision Nas, Larry, and Robert all getting around 30 minutes.
Snell is the 2nd option with Norm out to play the 3 but Elleby is the next guy up...the kid played really well in our last game and he's a good defender....doesn't need to shoot much....Nas will get most of the minutes but this kid can throw an alley oop lob...get you a steal...rebound and frustrate an opponent defensively...Chauncey likes him and has said why...same thing he said about Nas...play defense and you stay on the court. Both of those guys are doing just that and I think it's good to see. Elleby is only going to get better this season. I wouldn't say that about Blevins though. No way Chauncey gets fired for developing a player off the bench. He's got these guys playing the right way...let it unfold.
