First game, new coach, new system, new scheme, CJ was trying too hard to be what he isn't. Second half was much more in keeping with what we've seen the rest of the year. 30 turnovers, and couldn't hit a shot. In fact, it is the only time a Blazer team has ever had 30+ TO's and FG/3P %s below 40%/25% respectively, and only the 14th time it's ever happened in league history. An aberration game to say the least. What we've seen in 3 1/2 games is a consistent, repeatable defensive scheme and intensity, and a consistent, repeatable offensive mantra to push the pace, attack the rim, and dictate to the opponent. From a team that has had five regular season games under this coach. FIVE! It takes a concerted effort not to be encouraged by what we've seen so far.
the radio guys said the Blazers had 30 turnovers against the Knicks in a win the last time they had that many....I think they said it was in the 80s..so their point was we did win a game with 30 turnovers ...strange bit of trivia
Pretty much my point except i didn't add any opinion based issues. I just spoke of the facts. Again i don't disagree with your opinion here but it is some fact filled with opinion. Fact- They are 3-2 after playing 4 home games and the game on the road they got blown out. Another fact. The next 3 games are against fairly good teams on the road and they have one B2B coming. Opinion- Very good chance they will be 4-4 coming back from the road trip. Still a .500 team. We all love the improvement on the defensive end to this point. If they stay healthy they could continue to improve. I happen to be a little skeptical still of their offense and in the end good teams can score. No i am not saying i want to dump defense for offense. I'm saying i would like to see continued improvement before I jump on the wave of optimism coming from many on this board.
Agreed on all counts. However, I am not sure how important record is. My Blazer religion is that if we start to actually play "the right way" (i.e. with good defense), then over the long 82 game NBA season, we'll be fine. As you say, being .500 while still learning the defense is fantastic, imho.
He's the Wizard! Of course he's a non profit entity. Now off you go an your merry way. Just take that road made with Bricks and painted yellow. Stay on the road and don't take short cuts through the poppies.
