It’s funny to me that you think the status of the team has ANY effect/affect on where the games would be broadcasted from. Had as much impact on the decision as the weather did.

Great points until the end. I have said in the past, that my family hasn’t been able to watch. My wife and kids had to go to the in-laws whenever they wanted to see a game. They would much rather have watched it at home for sure. Just curious where the uproar and anger has been for the past decade plus?

Then that's just bad business. If people are already disillusioned or frustrated with the team, then making it harder to watch the team could be a final blow / another nail in the coffin.

It was there. But once I was finally able to get a provider that had the channel (both of the providers I found didn't exist when comcastSNW started, and one is no longer an option anyways).

It's the greed of things that bugs me. And it's not the Blazers greed, it's Root Sports greed. But the Blazers saw money and didn't think about anything else. I understand they're a business, but businesses that alienate their audience don't thrive.

understood. But all businesses who sell a product care alot about how accessible it is.
Do you think inventors don't want their products on every shelf in every store, vs having to search online for it or something?

all businesses will want thier product to be as accessible as possible if they actually plan to grow.

It would be like a manufacturer using a store chain that's in the middle of BFE and only that store chain. Can't buy online. Can't buy from local stores like Fred Meyer. You have to drive all the way out to some store in Washington.

That's exactly what happened with my brother. He was a bigger fan of the Blazers than I was. But once the availability of the channel was in question, he stopped.

Why, you might be asking? Why didn't he just hunt and peck for another way to watch the game?

Because the stuff he likes is available on OTA tv (he, like me, has youtubetv). He's into nascar shit now.

Why, though, doesn't he want to spend extra money to jump around the system and watch the games somehow else?

Because he wants to spend his money on his children and not waste money on stuff. That's a debate that is going on with a LOT of families now-a-days too.

It's why places like Toys R Us went out of business. They didn't make it easily accessible for customers.

It was hard enough to swallow the cost of YoutubeTV. I'm not going to pick up Comcast or DirectTV. At least Youtube is easy to pause or cancel. I despise Comcast and DirectTV.

And as far as pirating, that's great when I have time to go sit at my computer, but right now if I can't get it on my tv I probably won't be able to watch it.

Or using a VPN. I tried doing the LP via a VPN on my smart tv, but it didn't do anything.

the directstream app sucks. Yes you can record. But root shows up twice. And twice now the recording i set recorded something other than what was listed on the guide. The button response is delayed, making rewinding and fast forwarding difficult.

Where i live, we have two options. A shitty dstream app or fubo without tnt.
No way im paying for both. I dont have kingspeed money to blow…

It boils down to this, the Blazers are complacent because they know they're the only game in town. They got theirs and they don't give a shit about the fans. They get paid regardless. I really wish we'd get another team so that the Blazers would start to feel some of the pressures of losing market share. I wonder how many fans they have picked up from Washington since the Sonics left. A lot of their decisions smack of a big fish in small pond who knows that they don't have to put out any effort to make money.

a Seattle team would be great but krakken will fight tooth and nail preventing that from happening i think. Unless they are part owner, but that would conflict with owning the Blazers.

In a way, I doubt they picked up many of the Sonic fans. If the Blazers left Portland (and not to Seattle), and Seattle got another team, I wouldn't become a fan of them. I especially wouldn't if the Blazers moved to Seattle.

Thing is, it's not just the Blazers that are running into this issue. I believe the Cubs, Lakers, Giants and one of the NY baseball teams is dealing with the same shit. It's about the greed of the providers. It's 2021, and the fact we can't just buy league pass in the city the team we want to watch is in, regardless of where we are, is stupid.

It makes zero business sense anymore. People are willing to spend 17 dollars a month for LP...I'd much rather spend 6 bucks a month towards YTTV if it means they got the team.

I don't know why it's not a subscription channel in the first place. People pay for HBO, Netflix, Hulu, etc, why not have an option for league pass being a subscription channel regardless of location? Or hell, why isn't root sports an option for a subscription channel?

Yup. In this day and age it should be extremely easy to watch your favorite teams. But they're still running on this archaic system that has been in place for decades.

I know there are rumors that the new TV contract is trying to address that, as the NBA probably sees the writing on the wall.

More fans watching games = more fans interested in buying their shit.

When I was watching MotoGP they had an amazing service where you could control your experience. You could swap between cameras. You could choose to watch the actual broadcast or you could focus on one specific rider. This was almost 10 years ago. The NBA is just horribly behind the times.

I agree. Bad look all around. I also wish they would create a way for all to stream and get access. Hopefully that day is coming.

Not bad points at all. Beats me?
I totally agree there needs to be a way for everyone to stream this. Hopefully it’s coming and soon.
Cable is becoming more and more obsolete.
