It looks amazing. Does it pass modern safety standards? From what i understand they can't exactly remake old models like the Mustang and Bronco for that reason, they have to modernize it, when tends to make it look worse.

Edit: never mind, I see the idea here is to buy their electric crate engine and plop it into your own vehicle.

It's cool, but unlike the 70s, the authorities tend to frown on me tossing the kid in the back of the pickup

My car is this exact model and paint, but the paint does not look nearly this good, being in Florida and all. Florida eats paint, with the salt air, full sun, and high humidity.

that's actually funny, because my brother and I were talking about this exact concept about 6 months ago. Why they don't make modern, safe models of cars from the olden days (like a 68 Mustang or something) with modern tech, or offer up crate engines for older cars like this.

I'm waiting for the day when electric engine kits are affordable enough for people to start converting their current ICE's to electric. I'd do it in a heart beat if i could.

About 20k should do it... You could do it cheaper, but that will get you insane power.

Yeah, I hear you. You could possibly get a used motor for that price... But the batteries will be at least $5k just to get you 50-75 miles...

If you have a manual transmission you wouldn't need a gear box. If it's automatic you would though. And the controllers aren't cheap either.

    Did you read the article?

Based on Ford's 1978 F-100 pickup, the all-electric all-wheel drive F-100 Eluminator has 480 horsepower and features Ford Performance Parts' Eluminator electric crate motor.

Yes I did. I'm talking for all cars and makes. so if you have a Honda Accord, you can get a Honda Electric Motor crate kit, etc, built specifically for your car. So it's basically plug and play.

I'm not sure that's a good business model.

Ev west is about a couple of miles away from us and I visit it every once in a while. Currently you are looking at $15k for a basic conversion between motor, batteries, controller, cables, etc. More if you do not to create your own mounts.
