They want to live in Idaho without moving.wrong forum...should be in OT
and if those fucking idiots want to live in Idaho, there are U-Haul trucks everywhere
They want to live in Idaho without moving.
I say let them go, those regions of Oregon are net losses on the states tax revenues. Let them be Idaho's burden if they can talk Idaho into it.
If we allowed this, all rural areas would just become available to the highest bidder--whichever state was willing to give them the best anti-socialism handouts and subsidies.
It would be hell on the map-makers. No one ever considers the cartographers.
That would put almost all of them in the new state on welfare. You should offer to swap them for Boise.

So like gerrymandering then?
They should be careful for what they ask for.
The 5 (ish) counties that want to join Idaho? Their *total* population is bupkiss.
Malheur 30K people.
Sherman 1800
Grant 7300
Baker 17K
Lake 8K
That's about 65K people.
Throw in Harney (7300)
These guys are in for a shock when they wake up and realize that the tri county area (Mult, Clack and Washington) have 1.8 million people in it. That's 28X the population, and also means much more of the money for the state comes from us. So good luck with this.
Sure, one more nail in the coffin of one man one vote. All my all town conservatives friends think the electoral college should be adopted on a state level.

That's arguably the dumbest thing ever uttered.
They realize it's population based, right? So it wouldn't be a 1 to 1 county vs county thing (since it's not for the states/general election). It'd still be weighted in the favor of the more populous counties.
I.e., no, malhuer county shouldn't have the same voting power as Clackamas.

Hell, Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties alone have more people in them than the ENTIRE state of Idaho.
Throw in Marion and Lane, and it's 2.6 million.
What exactly are they thinking they're gaining by doing this? They're just thinning the pot for Idaho, and making it better for the rest of the state of Oregon.
Then they should pick up and move to Idaho. I wouldn't be so apprehensive about moving out there if it weren't for so many Trumpeting local yokals.I am going on record I am against this, tired of hearing about it. It is all over here in Central Oregon. But this is exactly why they are pushing this, no matter what Rural and Eastern Oregon does, they don't have as many people as the tri county area. The feeling is the state is managed for the mass populous and this side of the cascades has no say in how they are governed. They are never going to be happy unless a trump supporter gets in as governor of Oregon. They think since more land is over here they should have more vote, no matter that they are in the minority.
So do away with Idaho and eastern washing and oregon and just make one big state? What benefit does that have to washington? Oregon? If people don't like they state they live in they are free to move, but a large majority of the people east of the cascades have ZERO interest in this.Whats wrong with Merging Eastern Washington & Oregon with Idaho and Montana. Same demographics, trading routes & principle industries and ways of life. They would be about as big as Oregon then in population too.
State boundaries are so out dated and don't make a lot of since anymore.
Because I like having eastern Oregon be a part of the State. If they want to be in Idaho they should just move...Whats wrong with Merging Eastern Washington & Oregon with Idaho and Montana. No, dont do away with Idaho just merge E.OR&WA/Idaho and Montana as one new State. Strength in numbers as well as same principle industries, trading routes, and ways of life are similar. They have more in common than with major west coast cites as Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, Eugene and population would be closer to same with all those smaller regions consolidated. Consolidation is the name of the game now days.So do away with Idaho and eastern washing and oregon and just make one big state? What benefit does that have to washington? Oregon? Why not just give them more freedom from the metropolitan way and allow them to couple up with regions more like each other.Because I like having eastern Oregon be a part of the State. If they want to be a in Idaho they should just move...
So Boise should be part of Oregon and Eastern Oregon should be part of Montana. Consolidate all the Metro areas in the Country into one state and all rural into another and just have two states? Or just need to rearrange a lot of blue states to give more congressional districts to red states? No, dont do away with Idaho just merge E.OR&WA/Idaho and Montana as one new State. Why so? what is it you like about that area? Hundting/Fishing/Ranching/Farming/politics? or just the scenery?Because I like having eastern Oregon be a part of the State. If they want to be a in Idaho they should just move...
