AL: TAMPA BAY (33-49) at BOSTON (51-31) <h3>Wakefield, Red Sox take on Devil Rays</h3> Tampa Bay (33-49) at Boston (51-31) 1:05 pm EDT BOSTON (Ticker) -- Tim Wakefield and the Boston Red Sox will tryto add to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' misery Wednesday when theycontinue their series at Fenway Park. The Red Sox's 4-1 win on Tuesday marked the Devil Rays' ninthstraight loss, the franchise's longest string of futility thisseason. During the slump, Tampa Bay batters are 8-for-52 (.154)with runners in scoring position, which included an 0-for-4performance Tuesday. The team has also failed to reach doublefigures in hits in any of the nine losses, recording just fiveTuesday. Only four times in team history has the club gonelonger without at least 10 hits. The Devil Rays will be taking their hacks on Wednesday againstknuckleballer Wakefield (8-8, 4.31 ERA), who is struggling tofind some consistency with his trademark floater. The veteranrighthander has seven starts this season in which he has heldthe opposition to one run or less, but he also has six startsin which he has allowed four runs or more. Wakefield has dominated Tampa Bay in his career, posting a 15-2career mark with a 2.91 ERA and three saves in 32 appearances -22 starts. Edwin Jackson (1-8, 6.88) will counter for the Devil Rays. The23-year-old righthander has pitched better lately than hisrecord would indicate, allowing five earned runs in his 16 2/3innings pitched over three starts. Wednesday's game will be the second meeting of the seasonbetween the two division rivals, who will meet a total of 18times over the last 81 games of the season after not seeing eachother for the entire first half.
