ill remind everyone that chauncey billups in his introductory press said that nurk can score more and that hes happy to facilitate and he talked with nurk a lot and nurk liked what he said (nurks words), but turns out billups lied ill post a comment which nurk liked after game against the clippers and it perfectly explains how he feels about his situation so far this season, which is not good at all and hes understandably unhappy with his role Spoiler: comment translation Dear brother, I hope you are aware of what we all see, and that is that you do not deserve this kind of treatment. Others make mistakes and your minutes go down. You serve only to set screens, you take 6 to 7 shots per match and according to the fans, in the end you are the main culprit for the losses. For quite some time you dont fit into this “chaos” called Portland. Get out of there as soon as possible, they don't deserve you. You have much greater potential than what they use you for there. then a pair of cryptic tweets last night which are pretty easy to understand just trade him already, its for the best... player who is not fully engaged is not good for the team
Poor guy has is 3 for 3 on coaches who he feels don't use him properly. What bad luck. He has skills, but his maturity has always been the #1 reason I didn't want him to have a bigger role. Stuff like this only validates those beliefs.
Chauncey isn't utilizing Nurkic like he said he would. I can't blame Nurkic if he feels lied to. Being upset about that combined with how much he's hated on by the fanbase isn't an immaturity thing
You're not noticing a trend that he feels wronged by every coach he's played for? You think he's just super unlucky and he only had coaches who are out to get him? These general statements that he's hated by the fanbase seem to be surmised from a handful of tweets and message board posts. You could also take a handful of tweets and posts of people saying he's an all-star level center and say "the fanbase thinks he's an all-star." I don't hate the guy, but I wish he would have a bit more self-awareness.
Hmmm ,don't know about the "hated on by the franchise part". For the most part Nurk does not take very much "heat" here IMO, NOTHING compared to CJ. And its only this year so far that I have seen more discontent here, but IMO in general it's far, far from "hated". He is a decent/serviceable Center IMO, nothing more/nothing less. I think many of us thought when he came here he would turn out better than he has, it is what it is. I think there are much more serious issues with this team's personnel than Nurk, he and Roco are both expirings so trades could very well be explored. A LOT depends upon what happens with Olshey and whether a blowup in in the cars or not.
No player on this roster should be happy about their role yet....because they haven't really learned how to play that role for 4 qtrs.....Nurk feeds off emotions and like most competitive young guys...probably isn't as patient as he needs to be...he'll be fine with this coaching staff and Dame in his ear. He should want to be Jokic level...I like that that's his goal...now he needs to find out how to get there and still be a two way player....so do a lot of our returning players
nurk is the most hated player on blazers reddit and blazersedge too and then you can find some hateful comments on twitter too nurk is paying attention to those things, you can bet hes reading this forum too if he knows that it exists
He’s not good enough to justify more usage. His value is on the defensive end, setting screens and rebounding. I wish he was good enough to deserve more shots. The team would be better.
Fans don't hate him. They are just very disappointed because he clearly has the ability to be at another level. We have seen it. I wonder how much his sulking at not getting a bigger role is part of his lack of effort. If he put in the effort he would play far better and in turn get a bigger role as a result.
With that said though, I’d be happy to give some of CJs usage to Nurk. Even with the flip shots he’d probably be more efficient that CJ. I didn’t realize he was at a sub 20% usage rate, lowest of his career. But shooting the highest percentage of his career.
I understand how tired he must be of just being a screen setter and passer all the time. He needs to stop playing soft and finish strong at the rim. I don't know if he is afraid or just lazy, but he doesn't use his body, and his effort isn't a concerted one. Dude has been a beast in the past. We have seen his capability. Maybe he is just done showing it here in Portland because he feels unappreciated.
That he rushes. It's like he's afraid if he doesn't catch the defender off guard he will be helpless. Just catch the fucking ball. Then size up the defense. Then make a strong move. He plays offense like a wuss.
Also more often than not he releases his flips too far from the basket, while moving too fast toward the backboard. I think he's insecure, as evidenced by his immaturity, and doesn't have the confidence he tries to project.
