Just seen it on espn's bottomline. Well this isn't a real shock considering Manning and Rivers didn't start. But Rattay [IMG] that's pretty funny. The 49ers could have drafted Tom Brady..but they took Rattay... [IMG]

Even crazier is that they used a #1 pick on a QB and then payed Smith tons of money to be the back Up, instead they should of given Rattay ( Who was touted by many as the next Joe Montana) a chance and instead of using there pick on Smith should of backed up there backfield mayby with the pick of Rolle or someone similar!

Rattay actually looks impressive in the preseason. He's has a 141.2 passer rating so far. And he's thrown a decent amount of passes, for a preseason game. Alex Smith has like a 40.6 passer rating right now. Even Ken Dorsey can do better than that.

Yer Rattay is looking good but do u really think it was worth spending the Number 1 draft on smith and then paying him loads and not playing him, when they could of got help for there backfield

Yea, and then the fact is Rattay is still young too, he may have a breakout year. Then they'll have wasted the #1 pick and all that money on Smith. When they coulda helped a poor receiver core, or poor running back, or poor cornerbacks, or... you know where i'm getting.

Yer you could go on for a while yet, we will have to see how the season plans out to see if they wasted it or if they made a good choice, i personally if i was there front office would of gone with Rolle i think hes gonna be class in the future

Their offense is worse than their defense. 30 ranked offense and 24 ranked defense last season. I think things could have turned out better if they got ronnie brown or braylon edwards. But your right about antrel rolle. He would have helped them a lot too. And he's got very high potential.

As much as im anxious to see Alex Smith get handed this offense , i think its the right thing that they started Rattay , considering he does have the experience i still question his durability , but they did improve there oline a little (over paying jennings) and with the return of jeremy newberry ( the BEST center in football ) hopefully Rattay can get a little protection. Smiths time will come!!!!
