<span style="color:blue">Jets Sign Rookie LB Kinney, Waive K BeitiaThe New York Jets announced Wednesday that the Club has claimed rookie linebacker James Kinney off of waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars and waived rookie kicker Xavier Beitia. The announcements were made by Jets? Executive Vice President and General Manager Terry Bradway.Kinney, who was waived by the Jaguars on Aug. 22, is a rookie free agent from Missouri. The 6-1, 244-pound native of Chicago owns the Missouri school record for most career tackles with 463 stops after playing in 47 collegiate games and starting 38 of the contests. Kinney signed with the Jaguars following the 2005 Draft. Beitia, a 5-10, 198-pound kicker from Florida State, signed with the Jets an undrafted rookie free agent on April 28, 2005. He led the Seminoles in scoring the past four seasons (2001-2004) and made 67-of-92 of his field goals (72.8 %) and connected on 173-of-177 extra points (97.7%) on the collegiate level. Why did we sign Beitia in the first place? He was Mr. Wide Left for Florida State.As for James Kinney, i see him playing in place of McClover as a backup. Nothing overly special, but hell get the job done.
