i dont disagree, but i still believe it should be prioritized and healing the mental health should come before gun control. How do we know how much gun control is needed if we aren't mentally healthy?

It’s upsetting for sure, but I’m personally more dismayed by the 20 to 30 people who get shot and killed in Chicago every week.

Cars are necessary to keep us from being cavemen. Guns are necessary if you are a caveman or in the military or police force. I fully understand hunting but handguns are another matter as are large capacity magazines, weapons similar to assault rifles and cop killer bullets. Nope. You don't want to make reactive laws restricting citizens rights because of a crazy kid. You learn from it and try to catch the next one as early as possible. Hopefully getting them the help they need before they become a danger to anybody.
