Neil Olshey has been fired by the Portland Trail Blazers! Come chat about the breaking news with @hoopsjock on Blazers Uprise.
If Olshey had built a championship Blazer team, think this would have happened? I suspect this was all just a way to get rid of him and his lousy winning percentage as a GM.
Go back and read up on how KG ended up in Boston and who the head of bball ops was in Minny. also, look up why Ainge stepped down in Boston and read how players around the league feel about him, and why players like Tatum/Brown insisted on having a Black coach, and why Stevens assumed Ainge's role. Ainge is thought of very poorly by players around the league for his lack of empathy and guys like Anthony Davis deliberately avoided the Celtics as a potential destination solely because of Ainge. We have no need for a guy like that in 2021.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007–08_Boston_Celtics_season#Summary Started with Paul Pierce and scrubs. Became GM. Traded for Ray Allen Traded for Kevin Garnett Signed Sam Cassell Won a Title. Yeah, none of that was on Aigne's watch.
haha is it really? You liked your own post, odd. Good to know I live rent free in your head. As I said many times, never once did I defend Neil. But i think it made you feel better to assume so. Just hope now we don’t have a GM that trades Dame for Simmons or something dumb like that. Now that we got rid of Neil, can Quick and Canazno please follow him out the door!
HE DID SOMETHING. Unlike Olshey. In the years after Boston's title win, Ainge kept trying. He didn't stagnate. He kept trying to use what he had to make his team better. He wasn't scared. And with an entitled fanbase like Boston's pissing at his every move.
he also leaked to the media every potential deal he could have made. he is despised by players throughout the league.
Canzano can. Quick is actually pretty good. He's honest, which I know a lot of people hate because they have this weird thing where everything about the team must be positive or laden with excuses as to why they suck. Because, they do suck. And that was on olshey. We finally have hope and I've forgotten what that feels like as a Blazers fan.
The only issue I have with this is that it now looks like we are an organization in a tailspin. For what ever reason Dame had bought into Neil's game plan so who knows how this affects Dames head space in staying.
I think Olshey knows where Jody's skeletons are buried and Neil will have no problem exposing hers and Vulcan's transgressions in a lawsuit. Jody has a long history of creating a hostile working environment and I'm guessing that extended to Olshey as well. This might get very ugly unless Vulcan gives Neil a phat severance package to keep quiet.
this is how i felt when the news first dropped. i was worried about image and dame's mindset, but a month-long investigation is hard to dismiss as anything but thorough. and dame's allegiance/loyalty to olshey appear to have been overblown.
