This is why staying with Cronin as GM could prove most valuable. He could could start to work on trades NOW. Who knows, maybe he is.
That was then(Olshey), this is now(Cronin). If Cronin has the go for trades, as has been suggested he does, he may be on the phones right now. Go Dog GO!
funny how I trust Cronin more with trades than I did olshey. He knows the cap/cba better and probably isn’t as connected (aka ego) to guys as Neil was. The athletic article suggested he has power to make moves, but we’ll see if ownership would actually allow him to make a trade as impactful as one including CJ.
I like Nance a lot too, but a 1st round pick for the 5th - 6th best player on the team.... I kept beating the "go all in" drum to improve the top end of this roster this summer and I can't believe Dame was okay with us not doing it. Now we're straight back into that position not even a 3rd of the way through the season!
Think this is obvious. There was one point in the off-season where Dame and Simmons followed each other on IG after years and it both happened at exactly the same time. Pretty clear they talked at that point, maybe when trade talks were ongoing, but obviously those died down.
if cronin can land us simmons for cj and scrap, i'd give him serious consideration to stay on permanently in a head role. giving him freedom to make moves allows him an opportunity to make his own case for that job better than any other potential interviewee could.
shams/amick seem to be suggesting convos are/were ongoing recently though, so who knows. And they mentioned a package different from the one Morey allegedly asked for earlier that Olshey rejected. Fischer also mentioned not long ago that Portland was one of the teams still in active discussions with Philly.
Btw it was Morey that signed Roco outta college and reacquired him in a trade. Hopefully he’s still attached to his boy. Something like McCollum a pick and Roco for Simmons and Green once he’s eligible to be traded.
Also don't think Seth wants to be back in Portland. Apparently there was a lot of behind the scenes stuff with Seth when he was here and he was NOT happy. I'm not sure who he wasn't happy with, but he was never going to come back.
Also how funny is it that the article mentions Lillards alleged frustrations, includes his reduction in pick and rolls, and then talks up a trade for Ben Simmons. LOL.
I’d keep Little. Fairly easily too. Higher ceiling and is size. 6’3” scoring guards are a dime a dozen
