whats your point, jokic is one player, an anomaly

even jokic isnt as quick and good ball handler in traffic like sabonis

Give me Sabonis over Nurkic every single time. Not even close in my opinion.

I think Sabonis is also an anomaly then since i don't see many PFs out there that have the height of a Center passing like that. Don't forget Nurk-Sabonis are 6'11. I also think Domantas will end up as a C and so far they didn't do it fulltime because they also have Turner. Sabonis is more like a C than PF.

i guess it depends on the matchups on both positions on both ends of the floor

you dont want sabonis to defend guys like embiid, jokic, nurk, ayton and maybe someone else, thats job for turner

but on the other hand, its better to have sabonis attack nurk and similiar guys than turner

Dame/Sabonis would make me happy. I’d give up whatever young guy/RoCo(for the money)/and Picks

I've been historically very high on Sabonis, but his defense is really lacking. I think Turner would fit our team much better. Dude is a perennial leader in blocked shots and has the foot speed to switch/trap. And he can shoot to help our spacing (nearly 40% this year on almost 5 attempts a game). Turner is exactly who we had hoped Zach Collins would be. Especially if we can swap him for Nurk. While Nurk at his peak is probably better than Turner, we don't see that peak too often, and his contract status makes him a flight risk. If we can swap Nurk + fillers for Turner, I'd do it.

And most importantly, I feel like the cost to get him would be lower than Sabonis'. Fischer yesterday mentioned that the ask for Sabonis would be similar to the return ORL got for Vucevic last year (Wendell Carter, Otto Porter, and two future firsts). The equivalent would maybe be like Roco/Little/2 firsts. That's too rich for me for a guy who would not help us where we need most while being a clunky fit next to Nurk.

I still have a Sabas T-shirt with that on the back (thanks to Greg Leif, whom the older among you might remember). Whatever happened to Craig Kilbourne anyway?

Honestly can't see why the Pacers wouldn't build round Turner rather than Sabonis. Poor man's Gobert > Poorer man's Jokic.
But yes, I agree, if we could get either, it should be Turner, although getting either would mean getting rid of Nurk, and, flawed as he is, I just can't see getting equal value for him.

They should get together with Boston: hold a raffle and one team gets Turner and Tatum, the other gets Brown and Sabonis.

A team like OKC can flood the Pacers, or any team, with picks. Portland can do no such thing. Nabbing anyone from the Pacers would seem highly unlikely since they are in rebuild mode. They have no use for CJ. Nurk and Roco are expirings, true. But picks are better. Ant and Nas may move the needle but only a bit.

No way Blazers get anything from Pacers, unless Dame is traded and Portland gets some picks back etc.

The Thunder can flood any team with picks, sure
But all Sabonis has to do is say, “uh, no thanks. Not gonna resign there.”

It’s a player driven league now, picks are overrated for high level trades when players can essentially dictate what handful of teams they want to go to.

that’s why if we trade dame it’s gotta be for proven young players, not in the draft and stash game

I think Sabonis would be a great fit next to Nurk. Most of his minutes in indy came with Turner, but Nurk would be an even better fit because unlike Turner, Nurk is a plus rebounder. That compliments Sabonis better and would free him up from all the dirty work. Could also get really creative offensively as they're both plus playmakers. We know Billups wants to move the ball. Dunno if Indy would be interested in CJ, but Carlisles system is almost identical to Terrys, so I know he'd fit well. I also doubt they would go into a full rebuild while he's their coach. If nothing else, maybe Cronin gets a three way deal going. I get the feeling those two front offices will work together on something. Too much comfort/familiarity not to.

I think part of the issue is spacing on the offensive end. Turner is shooting close to 40% from 3. Nurk and sabonis feels to clunky to me.

agreed. Sabonis is the better player, but Turner is a better fit for our team. And Turner is exactly what Billups' system is asking for.
