Sabres are a scrappy team but definitely a game the Rangers should win. Georgiev back in net. Any word on Reaves? He was flexing his knee after the Avs game.

Don't know. Shesterkin was on the ice. Guy looks like he wrecks his leg every time he gets a tweak. I'm thinking one time he hurt his leg at some point in his career, tried walking on it and did something else to it. Either that or he's a drama queen. I think it has to be psychological with him. Maybe he is paranoid if anything doesn't feel 100%.

Its great they are winning the games they should win but, I would caution about getting all that excited still. 1/3 of the way through the reg season and they have played what I would imagine is one of the easier schedules thus far it terms of the opponents they have faced. They have played 26 games and only 9 of those have been against teams in the top 8 of their respective conferences. And they are only 3-5-1 against those teams.

Beat the bottom tier teams and play .500 or slightly above against the rest and they should be back in the playoffs.

Most definitely. And that will be awesome watching consequential Rangers games when the sun is still up...but we have to see them play better against better teams for any hope of a run in the playoffs. Long way to go this year!

Not putting too much into that. Washington was the first game of the season and this team for a while was clueless as to what Gallant wanted. Dallas was the second game. Same as the Washington deal. The Colorado game was b.s. because of scheduling and having the third string goalie in there. The 6-5 loss to Edmonton was b.s. No way they lose that game if Shesterkin played goal. They deserved a better fate in the 2-1 loss to Toronto. Really the only team they have been bad against with no excuse was Calgary. That being said, Chytil is not the answer. Need a faceoff, good offensive stud like Miller with Lafreniere. That deal has to be made. Chytil, Jones, Hajek and a prospect like Korczak should be enough. If they want Lundkvist instead of Jones, fine. Schneider can get the call up.

There is nothing they can do about the games already played. They need to play better/win against the better teams in the league in the last 2/3rds of the season to be considered cup contenders. But yeah, the team is not complete as we've been saying since last year. Need to add depth at C and get more secondary scoring.

Exactly, don't get your hopes up after the best start in franchise history, hopes can only be kept down. God help those over .500 teams when everyone gets on the same page. You just have to believe in the grit!

If they play .500 hockey the rest of the season they'll finish with 100 points. The Rangers would have made the playoffs last year if the Breadman didn't have to take an emergency vacation in the Motherland so preseason talk of no playoff hopes seemed silly. Mika should theoretically start scoring goals in bunches sooner than later as should some of the younger players - the effort is there. Thankfully Igor has a low pain threshold so when he limps off we need to give him a day or two but he's been the biggest surprise of the year for me. GG still isn't getting everything he wants from the team.

I'm not surprised at all with Shesterkin, I'd expect him to be one of the top 3 goalies in the league, provided he stays healthy.

Yeah, I would agree with that. My biggest surprise is without a doubt Kreider with 17 goals in 26 games. Thats crazy. What's not crazy? He has 4 assists. As for a bad surprise....Kakko with just 3 goals. YIKES.

Wish gallant would put kakko back with strome and Panarin where he had a 5 game point streak and was meshing well with them

Don’t expect Kakko and Lafreniere to get a lot of points when they don’t play in the first power-play it’s not gonna happen. Not to mention Lafreniere playing with a center who’s not all that good
