This is probably what it would be. Covington hopefully routed to a 3rd team that sends dead salary and some picks back to Detroit, or else Detroit probably asks for a first from us.

Is the 3M + 1.5M (from another minimum player that we have to sign) worth the upgrade to Grant from Covington, and losing Simons? I don't even know. Nothing really makes sense with CJ still on the roster.

A Norm for Grant deal could work in March. Gives them much needed shooting. They have a tall PG to make heights sorta work.

that puts us into the tax more. Color me reactionary, but I'd rather trade CJ than Ant in a deal for Grant.

I would trade both CJ and Norm before Ant. Doubt Detroit wants players that aren’t on Cunningham’s timeline though so it would have to be a three way.

Yeah, so would everyone else, especially Detroit.

I only put Ant because I don't see Detroit having interest in anyone on our team besides Ant and Little.

Not sure why are we so scared paying taxes if we are winning.

we're 11-16. a team like that should not be in the tax especially if it has plans or retooling next year.

I'm more interested in these pieces of info from Shams than the Grant/Simmons ideas. I've long been mentioning the Hawks as a trade partner. Fischer also said last week that Utah might be a team looking for a guy like Roco. Two birds, one stone.

Rival teams are expressing interest in Hawks swingman Cam Reddish, but those teams believe Atlanta seeks a first-round draft pick for Reddish, sources said.

The Jazz are pursuing a defensive-minded wing on the trade market, sources said.

Gay has been good, and so has Whiteside. Why are they moving those two for Covington? Not to mention the 1st. Covington just doesn't have this type of value. I tried making a trade with the Jazz but there's no salaries. I think the Jazz are gonna be hunting for Tony Snell types.

The actual Grant quote is so funny. "Dozens". Well, we only have 2 dozen teams in the NBA. So that means all but 5 teams are calling about Grant each week and yet only the Lakers and Blazers are named.

two minimum caliber players and a pick for a starting quality guy who is a year removed from being considered one of the premiere 3&d guys in the league? im going by what fischer said when he suggested we could get a pick for him and that he's still valued in some circles. I trust what he says over some clueless people at Realgm.

Gay is not minimum salary so already that's more value than what Fischer is speculating. But regardless, Covington is on an expiring deal, and playing the worst ball of his career. You can talk about the RealGM guys but a lot of the senior posters are pretty dead on with trade value just based on historical transactions.

Load up Indiana's offer with as many picks as you can get, to go with three expiring contracts.. Bogi could pay both SG and SF backup roles and we run with Dame, Powell, Little, Sabonis and Turner starting five. Smith, Ant, Bogi, Nance as bench mob.

The premise behind Indiana's rebuild is to break up Sabonis and Turner because they're a bad fit.

Very true. Something like this then. Not sure how Sixers would feel, but that would be a darn good return for Simmons, in my opinion.
