i think most of what's floating around in the rumorsphere is just conjecture and initial offers now. Stuff should become more concrete when the trade season unofficially opens up tmrw.

ya this was in addition to nurk to HOU. I just don't want to move Ant. He and Nas are right after Dame in my do not trade list.

Roco for future pick + salary filler
Nurk + our pick + future pick for Wood.

(edit: prolly an overpay, but meh we need some juice. Wood fits as a C better in today's NBA as is).

Also sounds like Myles Turner has more trade value than Sabonis. I think most people had the opposite idea, but it makes sense to me. Turner is a a much easier fit on most teams and is elite and what a player at his position should do.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Yeah and I think that's somewhat realistic, since Nurk is an expiring salary. Something like @PtldPlatypus' suggestion seems pretty solid--the Rockets get a first, an ascending young player and salary relief.

My problem with any Nurk/RoCo deal is you need to route them to a contender or a pretender that has some sort of agreement to re-sign them after the season. Expiring contracts historically don't have much value, especially not rentals during the season. If you go look back the last few years, most of these rental types just end up being moved for 2 2nds. Rarely do they fetch a 1st and when they do it's with a team that is willing to pay them what they're worth in the off-season (Tobias Harris is one example). Also, Nurk and RoCo are veterans, so there's no RFA status to mitigate the risk, and rebuilding teams are not going to value them as anything more than salary filler. Everything just gets so complicated when you start mapping out 3 or 4 team scenarios. I think we are going to be disappointed with the return for both of these guys.

Fischer mentions Nance has a lot of value. I think we can fetch a first for Nance. His contract situation is really nice with 2 years on a declining deal. You could probably do Nance + 1st for Wood or Nance + whatever Covington gets (2 2nds?) + Ant...

This may be the first time a trade suggestion I've posted has ever been referred to as "solid". Red letter day for me!

I think this would probably get it done but is it worth it? Also do the Rockets want to pay Ant when they have KPJ and Jalen Green which they're trying to develop?

If I was Cronin, I would be trying to move CJ first. Nothing really makes sense until CJ is off the team.

i really like nance (and norm). think both of these guys have a great outlook on winning and are good additions to the locker room. It's wild-- i'd rather trade Nurk than Nance right now-- primarily based on attitude.

All true, but I also wonder how well Wood and Turner might theoretically fit together. Both are centers, but also versatile enough that they could probably complement one another. I think pairing the two would be a homerun.

Yeah, 30/30 teams would rather have Nance than Nurkic given the contract situation. That's why we are also trying to move Nurk and not Nance.

I don't think the Blazers have enough to get both.

Not unless the Pacers were somehow interested in CJ. Of course I have no idea if anyone is interested in CJ. Knicks maybe?

I think it’s unrealistic that Indiana would trade Sabonis.

We have no idea what CJ's market is. Never hear him in any trade talks outside of Simmons so it's hard to tell.

My thought is that it's more indicative that he has no significant market. We would be better off breaking his contract into smaller pieces a la Russel Westbrook with the Wizards.

The scenario I'm leaning most towards right now is just trade CJ/Nurk/RoCo for whatever you can get and tank the season. Let Dame get his surgery. You can probably get a few picks back for the vets, some salary for some meh players that extends into next season that you can use as salary filler in future trades. Let Ant and Nas develop. Come back next year and see what you can get with your own lottery pick + whatever liquid assets (picks) you get in CJ/Nurk/RoCo. Ant will have a bigger contract next year and can be used as the primary piece in any trade. Try to get a second star to pair with Dame then.

They have until the deadline to decide, but if the record is not looking great in mid January and no star option appears I think you really need to start considering the tank.

Pacers trade Sabonis + LeVert for CJ + Roco.
We trade CJ + Roco + Nurk for Wood + Sabonis + Jackson + Batum.
Houston gets off the Wall contract and picks up Nurk + LeVert + salary fillers for Wood + Wall.
Clippers trade Jackson + bunch of salary fillers for Wall.

What exactly would be the incentive for the Clippers to trade away 4 players for that trade?

    Help the Blazers.

Also, all these multi-team trades where teams receive more players than they're sending out are unrealistic because you need to waive players on your roster first before completing the trade. Like the Rockets would need to waive two players already on the team to complete this trade.
