Something tells me that Joe would be willing to resurrect the RC2 tradition of "Meet and Greet with the GM" that died when Olshey took office.
Bear in mind that it takes two to make a deal. Even if we installed you as GM, CJ might still be here if you couldn't find a deal. Then we could blame you for not understanding that a double-hobbit backcourt just won't work. Just like I think Billups is boxed in, in terms of strategy, by the personnel like Stotts was, I think Cronin or any other GM is going to be boxed in when it comes to turning a difference-making deal because the players he has available to trade are not great and/or not what most teams are looking for these days.
I wonder if trades for CJ are being held up until they figure out when he will be able to return. Are teams going to trade for him without knowing what to expect?
I don’t think anyone wants CJs contract. You could get 90% of cj for 20mil a year. Oshley gave him a stupid deal, cause he was a horrible GM
here is Cronin's problem: CJ McCollum 6-3 Norman Powell 6-3 Anfernee Simons 6-3 Damian Lillard 6-2 Dennis Smith Jr. 6-2 Ben McLemore 6-3 6 out of 14 players are 6'3 & under. And, 4 of 9 rotation players and of course, Olshey left the roster so completely fucked-up we're talking about 6'11 Nurkic and 6'7 RoCo as the priority trade assets WTF!
The sad part is, it's reached the point where even if Portland decided it was best to blow it all up and deal Lillard, they really can't, in practice--trading Lillard now would be trading him at the bottom of his value. He's not going to command a "haul" in return until he proves he can take over games offensively again.
