Not having Dame/CJ as your first 'line of _efense' and having Turner on the back line certainly helps.

If Dort were only a couple years older, I could see them doing this. As a 22 year old, he might be one of the few players they keep.

Well, I love it for the Blazers! I think Indiana might do it. Seems to balance out their roster a lot better. Not sure about Sacramento, would they have any interest in Nurkic? I have thought of dealing just with Indiana; CJ and Roco for Sabonis, Warren and Lamb. I would be willing to throw in Anf if they insisted. Then deal Nurk in another trade.

But if I don't have the right pieces for Simmons (and I don't think Philly wants CJ), I would be very happy to get Sabonis.

no more sending out picks for role players. We need to learn our lesson.

I think this is a peak inside what Dame wants. Size and dogs.

Quick on the Richman pod said Norm could be right alongside CJ as most likely to be traded (after Roco/Nurk) this season.

    sigh.

Seriously, dude. Just glance over the CBA Faq. It's a sad state of affairs when thousands of fans in the state know the CBA better than the lone longstanding beat reporter in the market.

(norman effectively cannot be traded this year--the restriction on a norm trade expires in March, while the trade deadline this year is in Feb).

I was seeing this mentioned elsewhere, and now can't find the original ruling on it, but what is it or where is it that states he can not be traded until March?

I think we then press the Sixers really hard to take less draft picks for Simmons than the 3 picks and 3 swaps that they were rumored to have wanted with CJ. If we can get them to take CJ, 2 picks (the second lottery protected) and two swaps, then we make it happen.

If there is absolutely no reasonable way to get Simmons for CJ and picks then we offer CJ for Porzingis. With as athletic as Turner is he and KP would probably play well together on defense and no one would be able to score at the rim against us. Both guys can get out and protect the three point line and recover to protect the paint better than Nurk.

It's simply in the CBA. If a player is re-signed using bird rights and is given a raise more than 20%, then he can't be traded until some time in March which is purposefully after the trade deadline. Here is what it says on fanspo when you try to trade him.

It has to do with the $ increase in his contract. Essentially makes him untradeable the season he's signed. I had always assumed the deadline was in March but it's in Feb. We can't move him til the summer

Every CBA breakdown that I've seen says that it's January 15th that Powell becomes trade eligible, due to his salary increase and going over the cap. Fanspo is the only place I've seen the March date. Larry Coon's CBA FAQ and the NBA CBA Breakdown both say January 15. As does the ESPN trade machine.

Is there somewhere else that I'm missing?

I'm just really curious of the actual entry. I've never heard of such a provision, and everything with the increase of his amount pertains to January 15th or 3 months, whichever is later.
