And given the fukked up roster we now have (thanks Neil) we have IMO VERY little chance to put enough around Dame to give it a reasonable go. I am for trading him now while he still likely has significant enough value and trade him where he has a chance to win - cause it ain't goin to happen here.
I wonder if the Blazers management looks at the half empty arena and thinks. Man we should trade our best player and biggest draw. They will help us out. Trading Dame would not only tank the season but would give a big hit to the value of the Blazers. They are not trading Dame and they shouldn't.
Exactly. But we got burned in the Drexler trade. There was literally no reason to trade him, other than he wanted to leave. But by spending more money than had ever been spent on an NBA team we proved that great players could make a lot of money and find success here. That's no longer an option. The rules have changed. We have no way to prove great payers can be successful here other than being successful with our great players.
wonder who started this thread... oh wait. http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/crazy-idea-that-nobody-will-like-chris-paul.349827/
You always seem to be. I have hope. I'm optimistic. Especially with a new GM, whether he's interim or not. Plus I know that , yes ,Dame is battling with some things (health, new system). But i feel these are bumps in the road, not mountains that he can't scale. Athletes this loyal, to a place that's not Bright lights and big city lifestyle , are rare. Our next great talent, if we are so lucky to find that, may decide after his rookie deal, that he's outta here . I'd rather take my chances with building around Dame. Neil failed. Hopefully Joe succeeds.
The Nets have Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Lamarcus Aldridge, Paul Milsap Blake Griffin and Patty Mills....that's how you build a contender of vets around Dame....you get vets like we did with Carmelo....we need to trade young pieces for useable vets to build around Dame and not around rookies. We also probably need to go into luxury tax territory to do that. Otherwise you blow it up and blowing this team up when Dame is 31 is a big mistake and step backwards you might not recover from for a decade......I ain't got that kind of time....get Dame some vet help
OK: let's talk about Curry. 1. He was already part of a dynasty. Remind me what dynasty Dame has been part of? 2. Two key members of the dynasty never left. Another, Iguodala, came back this year. Hardly a "rebuild" 3. They picked up two top free agents for peanuts because they're the fucking Warriors. How're we supposed to follow that? 4. They tanked to get into the lottery. OK, we're doing that.
That's nothing: I could trade a bobby pin for plenty of houses in Flint, without any intermediate steps. We've lived in our house for over 20 years and it may finally be worth TWO bobby pins.
You've got it backwards: I'm never disappointed because I'm pessimistic. Although even I wasn't pessimistic enough for this season.
