But it's not simply in the CBA. Everything there says January 15th, or 3 months, for over the tax teams signing a birds rights free agent to an increase over 20%.

I feel like we had this discussion a few months back and someone clarified the later date. But ya fanspo is the only site that has March. I would happily accept a mistake

I had missed the earlier discussion I think. But yeah, can't find anything about March, or like a 6 month timeline in the CBA.

yeah me neither. that March date doesn’t make any sense, but I’m also not a CBA expert.

You guys are right. I don't know what's up with fanspo but this is the CBA:

Notwithstanding the rule set forth in Section (d)(ii) above, any player who signs a Contract with his prior Team meeting the following criteria may not be traded before the later of (x) three (3) months following the date on which such Contract was signed or (y) the January 15 of the Salary Cap Year in which such Contract was signed: the Team Salary of the player’s Team is above the Salary Cap immediately following the Contract signing and the player is a Qualifying Veteran Free Agent or Early Qualifying Veteran Free Agent who, in accordance with Section 6(b)(1) or (3) above, enters into a new Player Contract with his prior Team that provides for a Salary for the first Season of such new Contract greater than one hundred twenty percent (120%) of the Salary for the last Season of the player’s immediately prior Contract. The rule set forth in this Section (d)(iii) shall not apply to a player if his new Contract provides for Salary equal to the Minimum Player Salary (with no bonuses of any kind). For purposes of the foregoing sentence, if the player’s immediately prior Contract was a one-year Contract that provided for Salary equal to the Minimum Player Salary (with no bonuses of any kind), the player’s prior Salary shall include the portion of the Minimum Player Salary, if any, that was reimbursed out of the League-wide benefits fund described in Article IV, Section 6(g).

Sorry, that comes across kind of dickish. Apologies.

I don't see any mention of it in the CBA. Everything I've ever seen is January 15th, or 3 months.

If Cronin trades both CJ and Powell I will run down my street naked lol. But seriously, I don’t think either is the guy to put next to Dame.

I've honestly never seen fanspo before today. Lots of analysis of the Blazers' cap situation, but it's rendered nearly useless because of one small thing - they don't have BMac and his $1.67 million cap hit on the roster.

As someone who used to run a player salary site, I can say that's probably the #1 rule - you have to include every player.

I didn't think much about it. I just assumed when several people here were saying it was March before Norm would be eligible for trade they knew it was true

but I looked at the CBA FAQ today; went thru the trade rules, and all I found was Jan 15

in the Powell thread, Tester did a good job of using the FAQ:

If the Pacers like CJ which they should because I think he would be an amazing fit next to Brogdon and the two of them (along with Duarte coming off the bench) could really open up the floor for Sabonis; then I would trade CJ and Larry for Turner and LeVert.

I would trade Nurk to the Raptors for Boucher, Watanabe, Bonga and a their 2022 first rounder protected if necessary.

Some on here have speculated that maybe Philly would want a package that includes Norm for Simmons. I would give them Norm, RoCo, the pick from Toronto, our 2024 first and our 2026 first top 10 protected for Simmons.

We would end up with Dame, LeVert, Nas, Simmons, Turner, Ant, Boucher, Tony, Ben and Cody. That would be a much more competitive team than we currently have on both ends of the court and a solid start to building a championship team around Dame.

This would also get us under the tax apron which I'm sure ownership would like.

Any chance we can find a taker for Ant in all these trade ideas?

People don't like CJ because he dribbles so much, but at least he usually gets two feet into the paint. Ant dribbles a lot around the perimeter and seldom penetrates. Then he just fires up a jumper. I don't think it was a coincidence that the Hornets started to get a ton of open shots and mount a comeback when he came in tonight, either.

I'd trade him quickly..he's got value around the league and McLemore does what he does only better

Charlotte moves their recent 1st rounder Kai Jones and a 2nd to get a big improvement at C to help their playoff push in the east. Have bird rights on Nurk going into an offseason where there's not many teams with cap space, so have good odds to retain him.

Orlando moves on from Bamba before he hits RFA, and basically resets the salary clock on a young C with upside in Kai Jones.

Portland goes with youth and upside, albeit coming with the RFA looming, and gets out of the LT as well this season.

I also get the feeling we overrate our own players in this forum. We are talking about Simmons and Sabonis and I think more realistically we end up with players like Porzingis and Grant.

CJ for Porz(I really dislike CJ so this wouldn’t bug me)

    Nurk/RoCo for Grant

Not Sexy and definitely injury concerns but i think these type of moves are more realistic than landing an All-Star for our spare parts.

    Porzingis/Zeller
    Nance
    Grant/Nas
    Norm/McLemore
    Dame/Simons

    It’s definitely not sexy.

    Edit: that team sucks
