One of my pet peeves about some people is how they like to ask questions just to open up doors for arguing a topic...knowing they don't respect the opposing views before they enter a conversation...to me that's just fishing for adversaries. It's refreshing when adults actually enter a conversation with a point of view on the topic and actually post that instead ...now if humor is involved that's a game changer...

Bigot is not a definition to be associated with me. Who in here has the corner on that definition anyway? I may highly question things, but does that define me? When we cease to question is the concern.

And I completely understand all of that. But I don't think that makes a person a bigot. The argument for bias is certainly a strong one. But is it bigoted to ask questions?

Bigoted just seems far too strong a word for a poster in a thread which has honestly lacked any antagonistic tone whatsoever.

This has nothing to do with my train of thought or post so....I'm not following your drift.....if people post clips of bigoted material...vote for bigots...prop up bigoted propoganda...then they ask to be defined as being associated with bigotry. I'm trying to avoid insulting people I don't know but I can tell a lot by how someone discusses a topic what their tendencies are. Asking questions is fine is the intention is honest discourse but when it's veiled as an excuse to just argue....it's disingenuous in my opinion.

If I based my entire knowledge of Christianity on Jerry Springer, and formed an opinion based on it, how would ABM react? If I judged Christianity without ever talking to a Christian or reading Christian writing, how would ABM react? If I referred to Christians as "thing"?

I know from my many years of interfacing with ABM that he is a wonderful, kind and generous man and let me add this in all sincerity, his wife is a lucky woman. Okay, that's the last you'll hear of me speaking of a woman as being lucky, well maybe with the exception of that model that broke my cherry.

More importantly from my point of view, how would I react? I don't think I could find it in me to react with hate. I would hope that I would react with the sorrow that my church has taught me for the last 70 years rather than hate or deep anger, at least that's my inclination as a Christian although a Christian who needs a lot of forgiveness.

Ironically you would probably have a better opinion of Christianity if you did. Jerry's final thoughts were always messages of peace, love, understanding and acceptance.

When I've posted materials regarding transgenders, it's always had something to do with what I had perceived as seemingly bizarre and/or unfair behaviors. Nothing more and nothing less. I've also posted very personal information in here regarding a relative, and how it has affected my extended family. I think that's just being "real". When I've commented on, or posted materials related to BLM, I've simply seen them as an organization that, in my mind, wasn't really addressing root causes or concerns. That said, I've also cited organizations I support such as The Woodson Center, whom I think is doing a wonderful job working towards solutions to many of these problems and issues. When I've posted comments regarding my opinions regarding abortion, I've posted quotes from the Bible, as well as organizations such as Mercy Multiplied.

I do have a right to these opinions, replete with contextual options, do I not?

Thank you, my friend. Always appreciated. However, on one account, you're entirely wrong. I married up WAY up!! I'm the lucky one by far.

Woodson Center again? Antigay group promotes pray away the gay. Commissioned by twice impeached loser to write counter to 1619 Project, a thoroughly researched and documented history, they threw together in a month a pretty picture with no input from actual historians of good white people and happy darkies.

That someone can be nice to straight Christian men and nasty to me is not novel or surprising.

You are always entitled to your opinion(s), as well. I've never begrudged you for that.

If Jerry Spring is a better ambassador for your religion than you are, then perhaps some self reflection is in order?

I never said he was. I simply said it was an odd topic on one of his shows a long time ago. I've probably watched 2 or 3 JS shows in my entire life. IMO. he's in the same basic genre as shock jocks Morton Downey Jr. and Howard Stern.

Powerful statement Lanny. People reacting with hate is a huge problem in our society now and it saddens me that young kids are being taught to basically hate the other side, rather than reach out with kindness and helpfulness with no strings attached.

I've seen more people on here have to "Explain" why they aren't a biggot, racist, etc.

I've never put myself in a position that I needed to explain. I don't state or post things that would make members on here think that I was. Interesting how that works.

Glad y'all agree. Now, as I had said earlier, I'm looking forward to a kinder, gentler 2022.
