It might be more than a matter of just rest. He indicated this has gone on in seasons before, so it's not completely healing even in the off-season.

I didn’t mean to say that you were pointing at a specific cause. I think it’s the use of the word regression that bugs me since it implies that there’s something going on that is a likely trend going forward. I’d say every player who plays injured sees some fall-off in production. The question is whether there’s reason to think that “regression” is going to be the trend once the injury heals. Dame’s performance after the injection, at least while the cortisone was doing its job, would say the answer is no.

We should explore our options if we can't get him the help he needs to compete.

I guarantee the phone has rung off the hook about Dame since the day he was drafted.....Joe Cronin I'm pretty sure has been aware of all those options his whole career...and the answer from the front office is and always has been.....no way. The other 13 guys...sure...look at the options and make some big moves

Play him 48 minutes a game, every game, until he's barely alive.

Then rebuild him. We have the technology. Probably would only cost around $6M.

I don't know who but I'll just speak for myself:

Blazers should take a position that says to not trade Dame unless he asks to be traded. Certainly don't hang up the phone if anybody makes offers, you never know what will be offered but it's almost certain not to be anywhere close enough to a good return

Olshey was fired just a month ago. There has only been one minor trade around the league in that time. What that fuckhead Olshey did was burn thru nearly a decade of Dame's career, refusing to see the reality of his shitty roster building and his asinine overrating of CJ. Portland owes Dame at least one honest attempt to build a contender around him. They never did that under Olshey and they sure as fuck haven't had time to do it under Cronin

I think talking about trying to trade Dame now is nuts

Exploring our options and trying to trade Dame don't necessarily mean the same thing.

You don't have to put him officially on the block right now.

This franchise needs to take a long look in the face at where they want to go. Certainly in the offseason.

With a lotto pick this offseason we have plenty of paths to take.

The only path I want is towards becoming a contender. Many people have ideas on how we get there. We just aren't close right now to being anything than a treadmill team.
