Keeping our pick? This might be a Lottery year

Discussion in 'Portland Trail Blazers' started by TBpup, Dec 5, 2021.

?

Make the pick for the Future.....or trade it for 'now'?

  1. One last attempt

  2. Build for the future....one player won't make enough of a difference

  3. Get bad enough to where the pick makes an immediate impact

Not only that but it’s the most viable path for a small market like Portland to attain a championship. Finding franchise cornerstones through high picks.

The caveat is that the powers that be don’t fuck up on their picks.

Agreed. We should be paying the top executives more than every one else, and building a culture for finding and developing talent.

Banchero looks special too, it’s like Melo with defense. Any one of him, Jabari, and Chet, and we’ve got a game changer. There are other interesting prospects (especially Nikola Jović) but I haven’t really dug deep enough yet.

If our pick falls out of the top 5 I’d take a look Kendall Brown from Baylor.

I’ve watched a lot of Banchero and he’s nothing like Melo. More like Antonio McDyess.

    A throwback, prototypical 4

McDyess didn’t space the court. Banchero is a great free throw shooter who’s gonna be able to score from anywhere at his peak.

San Antonio did the Blazers no Lottery favors by losing to the horrible Pistons. Come on Spurs!

He's already shooting 33% from three and his shot looks good. He might not be a pull up three point shooter during his NBA career but I think he'll be able to stretch the floor from the corners at the very least, which would make his defender close out on him and give him more chances to use his excellent athleticism to get by them and take it to the hoop.

    watched some paolo highlights.

goddamn this dude is talented and so fluid while being physically imposing.

this is mike beasley 2.0. if he's gotta better head on his shoulders, this should be our guy. (for those who laugh at this comp, go look at what beas was doing at kansas state).

1 darn win....which means almost nothing other than hurting our chances at getting another impact player. It was fun to see Ant/Nas blow up though.

    Spurs won - good
    OKC lost - bad
    Sac lost - bad

Blazers had a close, competitive loss where you could see more growth from Ant and Nas. Not the worst thing that could happen.

Currently at #7 after the loss to the Heat as the Pacers have lost 6 in a row to fall below (or in front of) the Blazers.

Portland currently 1.5 games out of the #4 spot. Proper tanking is hard.

With Steph and Draymond sitting out, the Pels got a very unexpected win over the Warriors. That tied them in the win column with the Blazers and the Pacers.

We might just lose the next 5 but I think we'll get a win against Orlando. I guess that's good if you're in the tank camp.

We are already losing. Might as well make it worth as much as possible.
