<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Taylor Has His Trial Date Postponed Until OctoberBy Nunyo DemasioWashington Post Staff WriterFriday, September 9, 2005; Page E04Sean Taylor's trial date, originally scheduled for Monday, was postponed yesterday until Oct. 24 by Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mary Barzee. At a hearing in Miami, Taylor's attorney, Edward Carhart, made the formal request for a continuance, citing the need for more time to prepare for his defense. The state attorney general's office reiterated yesterday that it doesn't object to a delay until after the season ends in January. And Carhart is expected to request at least one more continuance so that the trial doesn't occur until 2006."I thought it would have been too greedy of me," Carhart said, when asked why he didn't request that the trial be pushed further back. The Redskins will face the San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 23 and the New York Giants on Oct. 30.This week, Barzee turned down the state attorney's request that Taylor be required to attend yesterday's hearing, and Taylor practiced in preparation for the season opener Sunday at home against the Chicago Bears.Taylor has been charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm and one misdemeanor count of simple battery after a June 1 confrontation between two groups in a Miami neighborhood. Taylor faces a minimum of three years and a maximum of 16.Taylor's attorney yesterday also formally turned down a plea bargain offer to waive the mandatory minimum by removing the firearm allegation. If Taylor had accepted, he would have been forced to accept a negotiated sentence almost certainly requiring jail time.Taylor, declining to speak about his legal issues, said he is looking forward to the season."We don't have any stats right now. We're not ranked," said Taylor of Washington's third-ranked defense last season. "We're nothing. We're zero. So that speaks on what we have to come out and do."We got through our little four-week period of preseason and we're ready for the season."</div>washingtonpostThis is real good for the skins, now that its postponed, Taylor can focus on the next couple weeks of football (especially that Monday night game in Dallas in 2 weeks) without having to think about his personal problems. He's a real valueable member to the team and having to lose him to a jail cell would be real bad news. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.That 9'ers game hes gonna miss is an easy win without him and the G-Men shouldn't be that hard of a team to beat without his presence I wish they postponed the damn thing til the offseason like they did for Jamal Lewis..
Amen. What do you think will be the result of the trial? Innocent or Guilty? and if hes found guilty, do you think they will let him begin serving time during the offseason?IM A SCARED
Good to know the Skins can have them back for a longer amount of time. I hope he's innocent, we'll see what happens though.
its hard to say if they could be #1 without him, I havent seen the starters out on the feild four 4 quarters yet so it'll be cool to see that tomorrow, but even that wont show much cuz the bears have a REAL bad offense especially with an iffy rookie QB, who was gooood in college but who knows about NFL, heheh, WHO KNOWS what he can do vs the skins defense? nothing.gotta get as much sean taylor exposure as u can until hes gone, I bet he has a forced fumble off a reciever and an interception off Orton tomorrow I CANT WAIT
yeah I'm expecting a blowout, like 21+ pointsThere's no way Portis won't rush for over 100 yards either, he had a great debut with the 'skins last yr vs. the Bucs, and since hes taken on this big leadership role this year I would expect him to try and be the heart of the offense in the game. I can't waaaait!
And the Bucs have a pretty good defense (not enough to stop the VIKES high powered offense). Plus Jansen is back
yeah and that bucs D got them to the superbowl a couple years back.Janson is gonna help alot, we have a sick O-Line IMOCooley should be at Tight End, we need to put Nehemiah Broughton at FB in his place, thats really gonna be a problem cuz Cooley is a good receiving threat and its harder to get out into the open feild from the backfeild with the D Line running at ya.. they need to switch that upback to Portis..... You think he can rush for over 2000 this year? I do in all honesty
I hope so but I think he'll only get like around 1500 yardsand Cooley is at Tight End. And yea hes a great redzone threat, getting 6 TD's last year and Coles only got one.And Cartwright should be put at FB IMO
look at the depth chart they have Cooley at FB...Depth Chartsee look, they got Royal and Kozlowski at TE, no Cooley, and Cooley starting in front of Sellers at Fullback--I hope this is a mistake, We'll have to see where he's at tomorrow.Yeah I think they should put Rock at FB too, hes a big ass dude, either him or Nemo, and get RID OF SELLERS I HATE HIM
Cartwrights got pretty decent speed tooand Cooleys position was TE , but inever looked at tthe depth chart
not to be a downer or anything.. sure.. i'm glad he can play, but then i;m tired of this bull.. postponin shit just cauz he's a football player.. well u say thats his job.. well if a normal person gets a trial.. they better show up.. it only goes to show you how much power money has.. but still it just so BS.. it still just football..
mannnn who cares, he shouldnt even be on trial, he didn't start the fight and he didn't kill anyone, he was just defending himself and his property in the wrong place at the wrong time..the reason they can push the trial date back is 1 reason, he's a professional athlete in the NFL. Yeah I know thats not the best reason, but you have to realize we live in a corrupt society and thats just the way it is. Someone could kill a billion people and the President can pardon them of all their crimes and they could go back to their daily lives. It's just the way shit works, get used to it.
