https://www.yahoo.com/news/texas-woman-demanded-buy-child-153255518.html A 49-year-old Texas woman was arrested and charged with a third-degree felony last week after she attempted to buy a child for $500,000 at a Walmart, police said. Rebecca Lanette Taylor was charged last week with the sale and purchase of a child, according to NBC affiliate KETK-TV. The child was with his mother on the self-checkout line in Crockett, Texas, when a "white woman with blonde hair approached," an affidavit says, according to KETK-TV. The Crockett Police Department did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment. It's unclear if Taylor has legal representation, and Insider was unable to reach her for comment. According to police records, Taylor "began commenting on her son's blonde hair and blue eyes. She asked how much she could purchase him for. (The mom) tried to laugh this comment off, thinking Taylor was joking. Taylor told her that she had $250,000 in the car and she would pay that much for him. (The mom) told her no amount of money would do," KETK-TV reported. The mother told police that Taylor was accompanied by another woman, who asked for the child's name. The mother did not tell either of them the name, she told police, but the two women began to call it out, KETK-TV said. Taylor told the mother that she had wanted to purchase a child for a long time. The mother told her to stay away from her child and waited for the two women to leave. Outside in the parking lot, Taylor confronted the mother, once again asking to buy her child. "Taylor began screaming at (the mom), saying if she wouldn't take $250,000 for him, then she would give her $500,000 because she wanted him and she was going to take him," police records obtained by KETK-TV said. The mother got to her car and locked the door with with her child in it. Taylor then got into a black SUV and left the scene, KETK-TV reported. Surveillance footage caught the incident on camera, and police issued a warrant for her arrest. Taylor is being held at the Houston County Jail on a $50,000 bond. The Texas Penal Code says that an individual found guilty of a felony in the third degree "shall be punished by imprisonment in the institutional division for any term of not more than 10 years or less than two years. In addition to imprisonment, an individual adjudged guilty of a felony of the third degree may be punished by a fine not to exceed $10,000."
I was kind of wondering the same thing. I mean yeah, the bitch is insane, but in my years of wheeling and dealing I’ve learned that if you’re interested n something it never hurts to throw a number out there.
It's child trafficking. And slavery. Buying and selling a human is obviously illegal. Attempting to traffic a human or attempting to buy a human is illegal the same way attempted murder is illegal.
I mean, people adopt children all the time and pay a pretty penny for it. I only read part of the article, but if someone offered me money for my kids, unless it gets aggressive, abusive, or just downright creepy (beyond the fact someone is trying to buy my child), I’m just not going to a dark place about it.
you’re just jealous, because nobody ever wanted to buy you. Same reason you hate catholic priests (they never tried to touch your weiner).
It got aggressive. She was screaming at the mom and saying she was going to take the kids one way or the other. Plus they knew the kids name even though the mom refuse to tell them when they asked which is fishy. Also apparently, they had a large sum of money $250,000 to $500,000 in her car.
And in Tennessee, a married hetero couple was blocked from legally adopting a child by an agency receiving taxpayer money because they are Jewish.
Hell, take it as a compliment. You’ve gotta have some good ass genes for people to start yelling prices at your children.
I’ve seen more aggressive stuff happen on this board than what I’ve read about this story. As someone with near-perfect children that everyone we know (and even people we don’t know but know our children or know OF them) raves about, I have to fight off the offers. And I’m not even that dad that brags about his kids incessantly, or even really much at all.
I'm sorry, I know this is really disturbing and it could have gone really bad, but am I not the only one who finds this hilarious? I mean.. who walks into a walmart and tries to buy a kid? Were they hanging near the pampers isle for better odds on having a variety to choose from? I mean wtf??? HAHAHAHA
There is some crazy dark humor there. The lady knew the kids name. It sounds like maybe there is more to the story. Like, she had been following them around, or stalking them for sometime.
oh crap! I didn't catch that. Was just thinking they could have napped the kid. Yeah. See that shows ling term planning. Lockem up and start psych therapy…but don't let them back into society. Of course im being judgemental without knowing all the details but long term stalking is nothing to take lightly. Just ask those in hollywood and politicians. They deal with it the most.
Yeah, plus they were saying they were going to take the kid one way or the other. That's scary. Imagine if you had a kid, and your gal was at the store with him without you and that happened.
Blood red anger. And id want to show them what its like to be stalked. I have enough nieces and nephews. my sister is five years younger than me and was raped by a guy in our huge apartment complex when she was going door to door for a fundraiser for school, when she was 11. My brothers and a couple friends hunted all over for the guy all night against the cops orders to go home.
