Is anyone else as apathetic about the upcoming Winter Olympics as I am? I mean, I barely paid any attention to the Summer Olympics, and that was less than 6 months ago. Now we have another less interesting Olympic games coming up, in China (only mentioned because the time difference is again an issue), when the ones from last year barely moved the needle at all? I dunno, it almost feels like the whole Olympic concept just needs to go the way of the dodo. Maybe that's just me, though.
Working for an NBC station means I have to pay attention to it somewhat but I think most people feel the way you do, especially about the winter games. It's amazing to me that NBC pays more than any other rights group to air the games and this is the 3rd straight games with 8 out of the last ten, set in Europe or Asia. You'd think NBC would have a little more pull in getting the games in one of the America's. The time difference makes for a huge stumbling block in broadcasting the games, but I also think NBC does a pretty piss poor job of airing them as well. Since it's spread out over so many networks, no one has any idea where anything is actually being shown.
They need to reconfigure the sports. Basketball and gymnastics need to be moved to the winter olympics.
Hell no, in my mind women are more talented and compassionate. Ive got three daughters that are very independent and smart.
My wife and her best friend love figure skating. Me? Are you kidding me? I do take some interest in the giant slaloms even though I don't know what a giant slalom is. All I know is it's downhill and really fast. I like the really fast part and I like the ski jumps, the bigger the better. Otherwise, yawn.
I believe only the Greek women competed nude, especially the gymnasts. Could you tolerate that? What if it were your sister?
Once politics took priority over athletics it tainted the purity of the games. The USA used that path which is demoralizing to me.
