And their convo makes it it seem like they have no idea what Portland needs/wants.

I would reluctantly do Hart + Satoransky + Jones + first for CJ. We'd also generate a 7 mil TPE with it and get a terrific glue guy in Hart who could slot into either a starting or bench role, as well as a prospect who would be a future starting forward.

feels like the upside with the pelicans is we could maybe get off of McCollums entire contract, if they can find an expiring that fits into their TPE and rerouted it to Portland. Outside that the only player that interests me is Jones.

I love how almost anyone who does a pod, is blasted or lampooned in some manner, or it's done better by someone else. I respect the effort, the more serious approach.

His whole commentary mentioned how it balanced out Portland in a better manner, but doesn't think Grant is the type that puts Portland anywhere near contender status. That seems entirely reasonable.

Seems unlikely they'd move Jones for CJ. I imagine it'd have to be one of Hayes or Murphy.
I'd do Murphy, Sato, Hart and a pick. Gives us an asset in the pick, expiring in Sato, glue guy in Hart who could be an expiring if we so desired, and a young 3/4 prospect to take a look at. Follow up with a deal for Powell, clears good $ to be slotted for Simons in the summer

because it lines up with your own thinking?

and no single move is gonna make Portland a contender, not even Ben Simmons, so that’s a silly premise for an argument to begin with.

One of the writers, probably Fischer since he writes every day, said some executive told him Powell was a Thibs type player...

Not at all. Where did I say anything about it lining up with my thinking? That's just a reach trying to make some point that has nothing to do with anything I posted.

Eh. We should be looking to consolidate. I don't mind overpaying if we get the best player back in the deal. Getting one really good player back for CJ/Powell/Roco is fine by me. It's trading one player for 3 where we're getting into murky territory.

Sato is expiring. Simply a salary filler. It's essentially Hart, Jones, and a pick for CJ.

Would love that, but Jones is somewhat akin to being their Ant, except on year 1 of a rookie salary. Good length, very good wingspan, shooting it well from '3'....and very inexpensive. Would be great if Cronin could get him included in a package coming back, but it doesn't seem very likely as of now.

So you’re telling me it doesn’t line up with your thinking? You haven’t been on here talking about blowing it up/tanking? It was a pretty simple conclusion I came to. People like hearing what they wanna hear.

If the trade includes Hart and Jones, I'd do it even without the extra pick.

I can't see NOP willing to include Jones, though.

If we could get real difference makers, I'm fine with not blowing it up. Grant would help from a balance standpoint, but I prefer the Denver version to the Detroit version and what he has recently indicated he wants his role to be. Hoping we can do better, or would go the tank route. Neither is an absolute. With what is going on now, the asset that a high Lottery pick would bring is something desperately needed for this team.

he's a 23 yr old rookie. decent prospect but i'm not doing any CJ to NO deals without at least Jones involved.

What I have found funny is that any hypothetical trade that gets proposed on here will inevitably have one or more people saying it's stupid and would never happen..... and yet worse trades ACTUALLY happen all the time. I remember I proposed CJ for Paul George and there were people who called it stupid and would never happen. Less than a year later he was traded for Oladipo and Sabonis, who were both pretty mediocre at that time. Dipo still pretty much sucks because of constant health issues. I imagine most Pacers fans would have flatly rejected that trade if it had been proposed six months earlier.
