As many of us have said before, they have some really talented kids that can play in the NHL right now but simply have no room here for a career. Jones, Lundkvist, maybe Barron but I hope not as Gallant needs to wake up on him, Hajek who I think is light years better than Nemeth and his skating is a nice match with Schneider, even kids like Reunanen and Pajuniemi have talent. Reunanen is pretty decent. He's better than what some teams are using. If Edmonton is calling for Georgiev, the Rangers would be foolish not to max out his value now and deal him this year. We aren't winning jack without Shesty in net anyway so it won't matter who the backup is. Kravtsov is still pretty highly regarded. Chytil is a piece for a center who is better.
The Oilers are still fighting for a playoff spot, uphill battle but they are in the mix. What type of asset(s) could the Rangers get from them at this point that will help the Rangers and not negatively impact the Oilers in making their playoff push?
Honestly, I would see if I could package Jones and Georgiev for their first. I figure if they get Chychrun they have to give up a first in that deal. Edmonton needs to win and win now. First rounders that won't play for 3 to 4 years are not going to make their fan base happy.
I’m nearing the point where i hope we trade away Kakko and Lafreniere and get something valuable in return before we completely kill their value and they get to go to a team that will develop them.
It’s sad but it may be going that route. However you have to get a pretty young player back in return no older than 24.
as long as it’s an established player I’m ok if he’s 25 or 26. Getting a younger player who needs further development is moot since it’s not like we’re going to put in the effort to develop him.
Lafreniere's agent is now the ass't GM in Vancouver, which could be an interesting tidbit to watch going forward.
