I wanna trade Norm, CJ, Nurk, RoCo for 1st rounders, cap relief, and solid players to fill out all the holes in this roster.

CJ/Elleby/2nd rounder to Pels for Hart,Valančiūnas

Norm/Nurk/DSJ to Raptors for OG, Boucher, Flynn

RoCo/Blevins to Knicks for Noel and the expiring contract of Arcidiacono

Let Zeller and Snell walk at end of season

    Dame/Flynn
    Ant/Hart/McLemore
    OG/Little/Watford
    Boucher/Nance/GB3
    Valančiūnas/Noel

Plus a lottery pick in this years draft, hopefully at PF

Maybe that sucks but it took too long to type to delete.

I guess you misunderstand what I mean by 3rd guard then. Simons would stagger with Dame. We'd need someone to play SG for 25 minutes a game. Doesn't have to be a "guard" in the sense of a PG or 6'3 guy.

If we get back assets that help us get a 6'7 guy, while getting back a good SG alongaide to play 25 minutes as a backup SG, I don't see the problem.

julius randle is so out of it in NY. dude is just going thru the motions. looks like he can't stand his teammates and they can't stand him. we might have had guys pouting, but never this bad. NY media ain't helping but he could use a change of scenery fast. I was all for a CJ for Randle swap earlier, but think we might be able to get him for less.

He's a chucker. Not nearly as good as Nurk. If we can get him to Toronto though...

Siakam, Barnes, and Anunoby are all better than Randle right now. Why would they want Randle?

randle should never play center probably not even in a small ball lineup. he’s a power forward that would fit well with Nurk. I think he just needs a vet like Dame to keep him in check. Dunno what it would take to get him (wouldn’t give up anyone outside powell or maybe CJ) but I like the idea.

I'm moving the goalposts? This was literally my first reply to you:
We're not getting a legit forward for CJ that's good enough to get us where we need to go it makes more sense to stockpile picks, tank the rest of the year for a good draft pick, then hope that a legitimate forward becomes available in the off-season that we can cash in on. It's easy to create big TPEs for us with New Orleans and they make the most sense for CJ and would probably give up the most. They'd have to trade Hart to match. So at that point, cash in RoCo and Norm to other teams for picks. Then we could potentially sell a team on up to five or six 1sts (one of which could be top 10) as well as Nas for any one of Jaylen Brown, Siakam, Anunoby, Collins, Simmons (if Philly strikes out on Harden, if they don't want picks you can try to swing a 3-team deal), etc.

Wed have our guard rotation set with Dame, Ant, Hart, plus a (hopefully re-signed) Nurkic, Little, and Nance, while we'd have a bunch of assets to throw around in order to add to that.

That makes the most sense to me.

In part of “moving the goalposts” you switched the focus from next year, onto this year, but I wasn’t very clear about that until my “final answer” section. That’s on me, my bad.

Anyhow, I don’t entirely disagree. What I disagreed with was the notion that Dame and Simons would play 48 minutes a game if we didn’t trade for more guards.

Then your center better be able to shoot because Julius can't.

Randle is more of a center. They're looking for a center supposedly.

Public pressure is mounting on Morey and the Sixers ownership. How dare you waste an MVP season from Embiid for a wild goose chase in the off-season.

Trade Simmons now. Let's hope it happens. CJ and Covington. Let's go!

he shot over 40% from outside last season on high volume. He’s also an above average free throw shooter. His percentages are hurt because he takes too many pull ups. He’s decent enough as a set shooter. Besides it’s a flawed theory that the only way to space is by having a bunch of shooters on the court. As long as guys can pass, the spacing will be there. Randle is a plus plus passer for a big.

ok...I'm going to try my hand at 'roster-reset', so people can take shots at me (as if you don't already) instead of the other way around

I'm going for trade ideas that going by rumors, might have a little traction. I'm also not going for the gagillionth version of Ben to Portland or Grant (yuck) to Portland. I'm also not going to push back against the way-overboard hype around here about Simons

trade 1 (based upon a CBA assumption I might have wrong):

    * RoCo to Chicago for Derrick Jones and Portland's 1st back, all obligations lifted

(assuming Portland can trade for Jones now. I know they couldn't re-sign him for a year after trading him away. Also assumes that the Bulls would view RoCo as valuable enough to their playoff hopes to give back a 1st)

note: this reduces Portland's payroll by 3.2M

    Trade 2:

    Norm + Nance + Portland's 2023 first, top-4 protected for John Collins

(lots of assumptions here, starting with the rumor that Atlanta wants a starter and a 1st. This gives them that while also preserving Portland's 2022 which may very well be a lottery pick. Hawks get a guard that would fit well with Young as well as Nance plugging part of the hole by the departure of Collins.)

note: this reduces Portland's payroll by 4.1M

    Trade 3:

version 1: CJ to new Orleans for Josh Hart & Valunciunas (a minimal trade that the Pels may or may not makes depending on how much they value Valunciunas)

version 2: CJ for Hart + Satoransky + Hernangomez + future 2nd (assumes the Pels value Val more than Hernangomez, which they may not. I asked for a future 2nd but maybe the Blazers can squeeze a 1st out of this one)

version 3: CJ for Hart + Val + Herbert Jones (probably asking for too much? basing this one on the high opinions several posters here have of Jones. If he's 'that' good, maybe the Blazers are the ones that need to add a future pick?)

    *******************************************************************

    PG: Dame-Ant-Smith-(Satoransky-Elleby?)
    SG: Ant-Hart-McLemore-(Satoransky-Elleby?)
    SF: Hart-Collins-H.Jones-D.Jones-Elleby-(Little)
    PF: Collins-Jones-Watford-(Brown)
    C: Nurkic-Valunciunas/Hernangomez-Watford

some obvious holes but this season doesn't really matter. Depending on which version of the Pels trade, the Blazers have taken 10-12M off of their payroll. That means they could use the balance of their full-MLE on the waiver wire or buy-out candidates after the trade deadline without worrying about being hard-capped

but this offers the Blazers many options in the off-season and next season. For damn sure a lot more options and flexibility than the shit-show-boxed-in-roster olshey left in his wake

    yeah, I know TLDR

This year his shooting has been abysmal. I have a friend who is a Knicks fan and he wants him gone.
