I just realized there are three Porter Jr.s in the league Otto who you're talking about, Michael who is currently injured and Kevin who I'm pretty sure has attitude problems or something. At any rate that's a lot of Porter Jr.s.

Pick away. I personally think Norm for Grant straight up is fair, but what more do you think would need to be added to it to make it work for them? Maybe send Hayes their way instead of to Atlanta?

Perhaps Junior Porters, like Junior Mints?

What do you think of how Lillard, McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic have been as a trio when they’ve all been healthy?

Together, we’ve won a lot of games. Nurk is entering his prime. Dame and CJ are in their primes. Those are three high-level players. When we put the right pieces around them, we’ve shown that we can be very competitive.

cj is here to stay as strange as it may seem to me. look for a terrible year next season

I don’t even think that trade is too far fetched or unbalanced. Its fair its just complicated and thats why its unlikely.

Well, it's not that I think that your trade is all that unfair especially because they have Bey who plays both forward spots. I just think they look at Grant as the big signing that they landed and their guy that was on the Olympic team so even though he's a role player and not a big star they might view him as more of one. I do think Hayes going there in that trade would make a difference because Hayes has a slight frame, a lot of length and can shoot from outside while they really like Stewart who is short, has a huge wingspan and really eats up a lot of space in the post and doesn't really venture out to the perimeter.

got a few seconds with Fischer today on his call. He hasn't had much insight into the Blazers in the past few weeks, but it seemed like he has a more clear idea now.

-we've been offering Powell for Grant, but that move doesn't help us duck the tax by itself. Detroit has some interest in Norm.
    - A CJ for Grant deal is also possibility, but Detroit would have to send more $ back. Not sure Pistons are that much interested in CJ as they would be in Powell.
-Covington is almost for sure getting moved.
-Ducking tax is a primary goal. If no other bigger moves happen, we're at least going to do that.

    I'll take it!!

TBH, I really like the thought of rolling next year with a lineup of Dame/Nas/Grant/Collins/Nurk with Ant/Hart/FRP/MLE/Watford backing them up. Sounds like a balanced, talented, versatile roster to me.

Course, that FRP wouldn't be guaranteed, since a Simons/Hart/Grant/Collins/Nurk lineup isn't really all that built to tank. Maybe the lack of chemistry would make them really clunky?

    Powell vs Grant

    BCD5E8C8-18C0-487A-9D96-2B1909EFEB2E.jpeg

RAPTOR grades out Powell as the better player. I guess my point is it’s pretty close to equal value, at least on paper.

I think for sure they would make it into the 7-8 play in game and I also think if they have put themselves in that kind of position that Dame will be back a couple weeks before the season ends to start getting some playing time with his new teammates. So I think they'd win that first play in game pretty easily and I think the Suns or Warriors would not be happy that they have to play that starting lineup with Dame in Ant's place and Ant coming off the bench along with some pretty tenacious guys in Elleby and Watford plus a shooter like McLemore. If we could make that trade and got through our first round match up, we could make a real run. Regardless it would set us up great for next year. Ant, Hart, MLE and Watford off the bench with that starting lineup would be definite contenders.

Instead of focussing on who we're getting, here's who I'd trade... now or in offseason:

Must Trade: CJ, Salary to get under the Lux Tax
    Should Trade: RoCo, Powell
    Shouldn't Trade: Ant, Nas, Nurk

    Next Year's Lineup:
    Dame, Ant, Nas, Larry, Nurk

    Bench:
    Watford, McLemore

Ideally, one of the players we trade for takes Larry's spot in the starting lineup, and another is a rotation player

Starters: Dame, Ant, Nas, Badass, Nurk
Bench: Watford, McLemore, Traded Dude, Larry

Ideally, the Badass is Ben Simmons, but that is unlikely.

Btw doing a Grant Powell trade might not get us under the tax, but it would free up using Roco to dip it.

How upset would people be if we started next season with a lineup featuring:

    Dame-CJ-Nas-Grant-Nurk

with Ant coming off the bench?

That is a ridiculously expensive lineup if we retain our FAs... and you're not maximizing Ant, but it's talent retention at least. Can also explore moving CJ next yr.

    Dame - 42 mil
    CJ - 33 mil
Grant - 21 mil, and seeking 4 yr, 112 mil extension
    Nurk - ~18 mil
    Ant - ~ 18 mil

132 mil for 5 players, and minimums to fill the bench.

Unless you know for sure that's a championship contender, there is no way Jody would be OK with that kinda spending.

It makes finding the right roco deal a little more difficult, though, with the extra $$. Grant is about 4.5 million more than Powell. If we're already ~3ish over, we're basically looking at a roco into a tpe to get under.

Maybe this? So, with a Norm for Grant swap, we'd be around 7.5 mil over.

RoCo + Snell for Kyle Anderson gets us about 5.4 mil.

Then dump Ben Mac to the first team offering a second that has a TPE (like NO for example).
