I will say this. Billups knows what Eric can do. If CJ is traded, i could see Bledsoe as a nice guard off the bench. He CAN play.
I’m not happy about this trade but you guys care too much about what other fans think lol RoCo wasn’t getting a first, not the way he has been playing this year and looks physically. Not getting a first for Norm hurts but I’m willing to see what happens before having a tantrum lol
I haven't read the entire thread yet but I think it should be pointed out that trading them to the Clippers was obviously done because of the Microsoft connections. This was done as a gift to Ballmer and that makes me even more upset.
Which, again, doesn't address anything that we're disagreeing about. I wanted to trade both guys. I agree with you that both were poor fits and expendable. We're on the same page. Our bone of contention is you responded to me that we made this move to keep Nurk and Ant. OK. Except we got nothing back that make Nurk and Ant worth keeping. We weren't trading Norm and RoCo to a parallel-universe Portland Trailblazers where they lacked value. Both had value to a number of contending teams that could have gotten the Blazers a better return. I don't know, I'm frustrated with our conversation right now because we started on one discussion and every time we post it morphs into something completely different and I don't think you understand my point. I guess an analogy would be that you're saying we sold the wheels of the car to maintain the engine, but I'm saying we got back an extra steering wheel and some seatcovers instead of wheels, so the engine working is meaningless.
Makes you wonder if the team is going to be sold soon and existing management just doesn't care. Cronin probably has one foot out the door already.
DSJ actually has more value to the Blazers than Bledsoe, IMO. He fits a niche and is very inexpensive. Bledsoe's washed.
Horrible trade! Been fuming over this trade all day and trying to think of a logic for this trade. Comes down to one thing, clearly the way to be able to give Simons a big contract to keep him so we don't risk losing him. Simons over Rocco and Norm any day. That has to be it. But still, there had to be a better deal out there that would have given us a better return than this garbage while clearing space to resign Simons. Detroit wanted a starter in return for Grant. Why not Norm for him and we role the dice trying to resign Grant in the off season. Don't just throw up your hands and give up pieces for nothing in return. This is def not showing Dame we are committed to winning if you ask me. One step back to take two steps forward is the saying but this was 3 steps back.
I keep seeing you say they had "positive value." I see RoCo's due to the expiring. Other than being a pretty good player, what is Powell's? Genuine question.
CJ next? For John Collins or Jerami Grant Gotta stop dreaming We will get jack shit in return for him too
That's being charitable. He's 32, has his lowest scoring average in 11 years, and is on pace to decline in scoring for the fifth year in a row. He's washed.
And the #21 pick in last years class. Tanking to get the best pick we can this year not only gives us a better asset for adding to the team or trading as well as gives valuable time to establish whether any other players on our team that were/are currently benchwarmers have a future on next seasons roster.
