Well, I wanted to come up with my contender/pretender list before the season started but I guess I forgot:Contenders:1) Indianapolis Colts-I know most of you are thinking how are they better than the Pats this year? Well, because when Peyton broke the record, he smelt something he's never smelt before. Greatness. He will be back and will be the best quarterback this year and try to win it all with the help of Marvin Harrison and Edgerrin James.2) New England Patriots-The Pats lost a key part of their defense in the offseason with Ty Law. Tom Brady will make the offense run smoothly, but what about the D?3) Green Bay Packers- I know you're thinking how did they get number 3? This is Brett Favre's last year and he isn't leaving by losing. He wants a championship this year, but, it's going to be tough without Javon Walker.4) Philadelphia Eagles-T.O and McNabb better get thier acts together and work as a team. TO said they talked and settled their differences. Eagle's fans should hope that that's true and this isn't a coverup of what goes on in the locker room.5) Pittsburgh Steelers-There's no such thing as a sophmore jinx for Big Ben. He can only get better. He is a man on a mission. Questions arose when the Steelers announced Willie Parker was starting. Critics were silenced in week 1 when Willie Parker put up Jerome Bettis-like numbers.Notables - Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, St. Louis RamsPretenders:1) Atlanta Falcons- I know all you Falcons fans are going to be yelling at me, but, listen to me first. When Michael Vick learns to throw the ball consistently, you can put them number 1 on my Contenders list.2)San Diego Chargers-They had a great year last year, but I think Drew Brees was a fluke. LT won't be as good this year. Watch them to bet the bottom dwellers of the standings.3) Baltimore Ravens- This team might arguably be the best defensive team out there, but once they get a decent QB, they will be unstoppable. Kyle Boller isn't really the kind of QB that leads you to the Superbowl and beats the Patriots, or even the Falcons(I know they're in the same conference, but you get my point).Minnesota Vikings- Two words, Randy Moss5) Seattle Seahawks- Matt Hasselbeck isn't a playoff QB. He has good seasons, but he can't perform in the playoffs. When he does, you better watch out.Notables: Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars

Because, the Falcons beat the Eagles. I think the Falcons have the best shot in the NFC to go to the superbowl. Vick knows the offense know and with youngsters Jenkins and White imerging they could be a dangerous team.

Does anyone here realize Ty Law only played 4 games? He wasn't there more then half the season and our CB's looked good so far. Bruschi is a big lose though.
Contenders1) New England - Arguably best QB in the game, defence took a hit, but still solid. Great offence. Experience. Hard to count out2) Indianapolis - Best offence in NFL, arguably best quarterback in NFL. Much improved defence, could propel team into superbowl3) Philedelphia - If injury is not serious, and TO and McNabb stay on the same page, scary team that could compete against anyonePretenders1) Green Bay - Too much on Brett Farve's mind. Loss of Javon Walker kills this team2) Atlanta - Not a fan of the "Scrambing Quarterback" Don't think you can win with it in this league. Need to be able to get effective passing offence3) Minnesota - Lost a certain offensive palyer during offseason. Will hurt a little bit...

QUOTE (KMart @ Sep 18 2005, 01:55 PM)

2) Indianapolis - Best offence in NFL
Maybe, but right now it is the 3rd quarter in the Jags-Colts game and it is 0-0
Patriots are not contenders in my mind. Packers shouldn't even be in this thread. The Rams are not "notables" as contenders. It's a good list overall...

QUOTE (European-Star @ Sep 18 2005, 07:22 PM)

how about them TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS? any thoughts guys?
I think their a contender. Very good offense with Clayton, The Caddy is looking great and they still have a top defense
Contenders: ColtsSteelersEaglesFalconsPatriotsPretenders:VikingsPackersRamsCardinalsBucs, Bills, Jaguars Cowboys maybe and most people are overlooking the Cinncinatti Bengals
Vikings might be pretenders but why do people think Moss is the only reason? Obviasly they havn't been following Vikings football.
I think the Pats are earning their "Contender" ranking by name alone...let's just see how well they operate missing some defensive guys.I agree with pretty much everything else though.

QUOTE (GreasedLightning @ Sep 24 2005, 07:08 PM)

Vikings might be pretenders but why do people think Moss is the only reason? Obviasly they havn't been following Vikings football.
Its not that people are forgetting about Scott Linehan, or any other of their losses on offense, but Randy Moss is easily the biggest loss. He was the one taking double/triple coverage making players like Burleson get a heavy mismatch. Now your counting on Burleson to play a role hes not good enough to play. I think its pretty obvious its gonna be a long season in Purple and Mike Tice will be deservingly fired.
