Ok they have little to no value. Tell me this if you ran a team which players would you consider to have more value Powel and Roco or what we got back in the trade? If we’re to trade away the pieces we got what value do they have around the league? Sorry no disrespect for the players we got but to me Powel had way more value than any player we got back in trade and it was reported multiple times that there were teams interested in Roco. For a contending team Roco would be a great fit and have good value
This is it. We are gonna get lowballed to death. Cronin has zero tact in negotiation. Dude didnt realize what he just created
for CJ Saw in an article someone suggested Westbrook and 2 first from Lakers. With Lebrons age and the lack of upcoming talent those picks could have great value. Obviously this isn’t there gm suggesting that but They know time is running out for Lebron I could see them being desperate and making a deal like this although thought of having Westbrook on this team makes me sick to my stomach
Yes it’s fact that Powell and Roco are Better players. But the deal wasn’t made to get better players back. Or equal players. It was financial so they could do something else later. And no, not the financial aspect “oh great more money for Jody Allen”, which is just a tired line at this point. Keon may end up a good player. The other two no, and I would bet won’t be around much longer.
appreciate your opinion my gut tells me we should have at least gotten a 1st round pick out of this trade or out of another trade. 1st round picks are gold and would have had huge value when combined in another trade. Unless another deal is in works I don’t see why this deal had to happen 5 days before deadline
LOL...yeah right. can somebody point out how the return on that trade in terms of talent, or reducing next year's payroll by a grand total of 6.1M moves Portland toward contention?
The big question is what happens to CJ McCollum and Anfernee Simons. It would be dumb to have the three largest salaries going to three small guards, one of them being a backup.
Did you expect contention moving trades by deadline or are you giving him through off season? I understand your thoughts on this trade I just think it cool to have a stat guy like you challenge a stat/cap vulcanite. Im going to wait and see how this turns out fir the start of next season when our Super Star leader is back.
This quote by Cronin suggests they’re rolling with Simons. Can’t see them spending $20M+ on a sixth man considering the last quote about balancing out the roster.
of course I didn't. And there are still 4-5 days before the trade deadline. And there's the off-season. And next year's trade deadline. And rinse-repeat. So, just be patient, right? fuck that....I've endured a decade of "be patient" with olshey right now, the only positive aspect of this trade that I can see is it makes Portland a worse team which increases the chances of a lottery pick. I guess that's a step toward contending, but it's not much of one. And if that was the goal, then for fucksakes, Bledsoe should never play a minute. Just waive him the day after the deadline the way to contend is to surround Dame with better talent. This trade goes the wrong direction
That would have been more fair. But like you said teams are treating first round picks like gold. Only reason why it would have to happen now was if there was indeed other deals in the works. Especially mult-team
keep in mind it was a 2-for-3 trade. Blazers have a full roster now. I can't keep track of the Covid rules and how many players a team is allowed to carry, but it's hard to believe the Blazers hove the slots to make a CJ trade that brings in 2 or more players without expanding the trade (by Portland adding players) or waiving players. And, since I'm assuming yesterday's trade is official, none of Bledsoe-Winslow-Johnson can be part of a multi-player trade from Portland's side
Yeah the rinse and repeat gets old for sure but with Dame & Chauncey having input, maybe something that makes since for the roster fit will happen? We still have assets and maybe Dame & Chauncey dont buy into the 3 guard line up & Naz p-laying more three (if healthy) so moving Powells contract allows for another move to hopefully beef up front line. With the emergence of Simons and Dame coming back healthy, our guard line up should be ok with decent back-up. And maybe Joe just wanted to feel what it was like to pull the finger before another GM this off season takes over, or better yet a new owner? Who the fuck knows?
How many in here have ever sold a car, rv, boat, whatever and you took a loss but you were focused on that new want/need and you needed to free up some funds and make room in Garage?
Did we get assets to help us out of this tank when giving two starters away? The answer is no. The only answer is no. He fucked up. That's the only right answer. Have a good day. I am!
