If this turns out to be a rebuild instead of a reload I’d like to pick up Bagley from Sac and NAW and Hayes from the Pels plus expirings/picks. If Simmons goes to Sac maybe we can get in it by sending something to Philly for Bagley. The Pels players would obviously come in a CJ trade.

    Simons/(Ivey)
    NAW/Keon
    Little/(Mathurin)
    Bagley/GB3
    Hayes

Add in 2 lotto picks(ours and the Pels)

Now add in the pieces we would acquire in Dame and Nurk trades.

Seems like a rebuild could go pretty fast.

Please quote the post where you objected to trading for Powell and/or re-signing him.

I was going to suggest that some team must need a bench scorer desperately enough to give up a 2nd rounder for McLemore. Then I remembered that our little kingdom has a mad queen and a jester pretending to be a GM.

Who knows? It could still happen. McLemore has a cheap, expiring contract.

Jalen Smith showed promise when he got minutes this year and Suns have already declined his option. I would like to get him and see how that goes.

It would be a three way trade with us, NOLA and Detroit. Then the trade between us and Toronto is separate.

I don't know for sure if Ant has the kind of value for Toronto to pull this off but it's a really equal exchange of talent. I think the deal with NOLA and Detroit gets done pretty easily.

Next season we would end up with a rotation of Dame, Hart, OG, Grant, Hayes, Nas, MLE, hopefully Watford and some min level free agent.

Anything to bring in OG. Love that dude. However - he and Nassir are somewhat close in profile.

NBA franchises increase in value the last ~30 years is less than the average investment in the stock market. Yes the 80 million to 2 billion is less than the stock market average. You'd think buying an NBA team during this period had at least compared to a good stock, instead of less than an average one.

To your point though, many NBA owners treat the team more as a luxury item than an investment, in which case I agree bottom line profit isn't a primary concern.

But the notion that NBA franchises skyrocket in value so much owners can have enormous losses and still have great investment returns is false.

I don't think the Raptors part with OG, even for 3 FRPs. They want to make a run. They will be buyers at the deadline with picks to deal.

Yes its a hot market with a large majority of teams in the association looking to trade picks for players that can help win now. If only we had a couple rotational players to trade away; we could get one or more good assets like first round picks.

You'd have to be beyond incompetent as a GM and ownership to trade away 2 starters for 3 scrubs making 11 million next year.

    From Athletic

Blazers receive: John Collins, Delon Wright, Heat 2024 second-round pick

Hawks receive: CJ McCollum, Tony Snell

Who says no? Possibly no one.

Another player who I’ve heard the Hawks have interest in is McCollum. I personally don’t get it because we’ve seen the ceiling with a Damian Lillard-McCollum backcourt, and it’s not a title. I’d be very concerned with the backcourt defense of Young and McCollum. What McCollum would provide is a much-needed and proven shot creator. When Young is struggling from the floor, it’s glaring how big of an issue it is that the Hawks don’t have someone they can turn to in order to cover for him. McCollum provides that scoring.

A different idea here could be Gallinari and Bogdanović plus a first-round pick for McCollum. Including Gallinari gives the Blazers cap flexibility for their inevitable teardown, plus they’d get a first-round pick, which they should be looking to acquire as many picks as possible at this point.

That Collins trade seems like a far-fetched fantasy, especially since they're playing really well now. I think that Gallinari's contract is similar to Bledsoe's (low guaranty $ next year), which would probably be appealing to Cronin as he could offer another team almost $40M of near-expiring contracts on draft night. Also, Dame is supposedly an admirer of Bogdanovic's game.

However, I don't think there's any way for the blazers to make a move like that and stay under the cap unless they separately deal Winslow. Not sure if they think that he has value or not.

No Cronin couldn't. Bledsoe contract becomes fully guaranteed if he is traded.

Yes, good trade for Indy. Also good for the Cavs, gives them a player to win now. Thats how most trades are, they have different advantages for each team.

Meanwhile the Blazers turned 2 starters on good contracts into no draft picks and 3 scrubs on $11 million of salary next year.

I'd do it. I don't see why Atlanta would pair CJ with Trae and go from a 24 year old Collins to 30 year old CJ.
