We have no idea who is in the market for an NBA franchise. It's not a stretch to say the owner won't be local.

Let me put it this way. If I had the money to buy the Tampa Rays, I wouldn't give a s*** about the Tampa area, I would move that team to Portland. What makes you think a purchaser in Vegas, Vancouver, Baltimore, Kansas City, Nashville, Tampa or any other city without a franchise would feel differently?

It looks like we're going to have to wait until Training Camp to find out the net result of these moves.

    But, for now, we're getting:
    Satoranky, SG (6'7")
    Hart, SF (6'5")
    SAW, SG (6'6")
    Louzada, SG (6'5"), negative PER

Taking out Zeller (who shouldn't be on the team next year), and Greg Brown (who won't play next year)....
Other than Nurk, the only player taller than 6'7" is Watford.

So, congrats to Watford, you're getting a 3-year contract next year...

OK, it appears we did. I think my initial disappointment with this trade is because of the false teaser earlier that we were getting 2 first and Jaxson Hayes and Murphy. Also disappointed when Nance went out.
But thinking it over I feel a lot better. I'm Ok with Nance for 2 second round picks. He's out with an injury to the knees that seems to be lingering; that's really concerning.
For CJ, a FRP that could be a lottery pick, a SG who is 4 years younger and 2" taller, who has a rebounding % double that of CJ's, has a higher BPM because of his outstanding DBPM, OTRG of 117 compared to CJ's 108 and DTRG of 112 to CJ's 116, at a much lower salary. Already we win big, really big! Then we get a two way tall guard thrown in; maybe he won't ever be anything but maybe he has still been recovering from injuries in his first two years?

I guess it’s best he got traded but I kind of felt CJ was worth more than that.
    Just my take?

Nance+Snell match Hart+NAW. Didi into Trent TPE. CJ - Sato = $20.8M TPE.

I assure you, there's not a billionaire owner in Baltimore looking for a team right now. I could probably make that same guess for KC, Nashville, and Tampa.

Everything they trade matches CJ. NOP uses portion of their $17M TPE to absorb Nance. Snell is minimum so doesn't need to be accounted for. We get $20M due to deficit between CJ and Satoransky.

Probably an even safer bet there isn't a billionaire in Portland than any of the cities you list.

I've lived in both Baltimore and Portland, and I'd wager on there being a higher likelihood of one in Portland than in Baltimore.

Also, Baltimore's arena situation is a mess. As in, there practically is none. The current arena was built in the 60's and isn't even up to G-League standards. They would have to build one from scratch, which the city has tried to do for about 20 years and gotten nowhere.

You would have made the same post about Oklahoma City or Memphis.

I assure you, Baltimore is only 35 miles from DC. Billionaires in Montgomery and Anne Arundel Counties think of Baltimore as a suburb. Wonder how a town as small as Baltimore supports two pro teams? And there's plenty of money in those areas. KC also comes with a new arena.

    It'd probably just be this:

Blazers get $10.6M TPE. 2022 1st to DET is the NOP 1st in the CJ deal.

There's room down where Camden Yards and M&T are located. It's not as much about Baltimore as it is about the surrounding areas. Baltimore, like Detroit, is a donut. Lots of money surrounding a poor urban core. I was just throwing out options.

I think the plan is to draft Chet, Banchero, or Jabari while trading the NOP 1st for another forward. Lots of good centers we could get with our 2nd round pick. Then free agency. This team will have a frontcourt next year.

I know exactly how close Baltimore is to DC. And I know exactly how unwilling rich people are to go into Baltimore city for just about anything outside of a Ravens game.

Wizards games aren't highly attended. A new team in Baltimore wouldn't be either. The Orioles don't draw well. They didn't really do great during the last stretch of good baseball the Orioles had, either.

KC's "new" arena is now 15 years old. Granted, it's newer than the Moda Center, but it's not new.
