I think this will be the standard response for the majority of Blazer moves the next 3 years.

It started with the Clippers trade.... "wait for follow up deal" "wait until we get cap space" "flexibility"

We are full on rebuilding and its going to be a long losing road ahead.

Porzingis is like the anti-matter CJ McCollum on this board. Ninety percent of the board thinks he's amazing. I see a 7-2 guy who plays like a 6-5 guy without the handle.

Dude that's just an ESPN thing. She's programmed to build up the big teams. And I like it when her eyes gleem.

If you take away Dirk's handle, Dirk's back-to-the-basket game and Dirk's toughness, it is a good comparison.

Without cap space the Blazers could not make any changes. Now they theoretically could. It either works or it does not - but it was a necessary step.

The cap space will either be used to sign FAs (not likely), not lose players the organization values (Simons over CJ / Powell) or be used in uneven trades.

It was a necessary step. Without it - we are stuck with the same, non-winning, over-paid roster going forward - and might lose the pieces the organization wanted to keep (Simons, Nurk potentially) because of monetary considerations.

So, frankly, the bitching, while understood, is unreasonable unless people believe the roster before these trades was a winning roster.

KP is still just 26 and could really come alive in Washington.

    Lol

Never ceases to amaze me that every year that we have this ‘magical’ cap space, August 1st comes around and Blazer fan are refreshing their phones to hear about this great Free Agent signing only to be damn near depressed that other teams are getting those nice shiny FA’s, while we’re getting the leftovers out of the bargain bin.

Some haven’t figured this out I guess.

Unless we’re planning just to re-sign our own players to bloated contracts, cap space don’t mean shit to me.

We've had plenty of new GM's. Coaches like Mo Cheeks were respected too. None of those will get us a contending roster now. The problem is a rebuild are 2 parts; tearing down what you had surgically, and then building it back up perfectly using that foundation.

A great GM will get maximum value on the tear down, so the team is setup well to build. Cronin has failed at that.

So now it really doesn't matter how great the GM is going forward, there is no foundation to build back a contender. We got an empty lot and there is no concrete available this summer.

Many of us see the writing on the wall that a contender can't be built around Dame in the coming years. Maybe others are like you and want to see the story play out first. Thats fine for you, but thats why were going to post the way that we do.

Justise and a couple seconds for him. See what he's got and then we can pay him more than anyone else can in the off season if he's worth it.

we can absorb him into our TPE from the LA trade. No need to send out Winslow. But Jake says Denver is pursuing Smith also.

Actually the opposite, everyone could pay more than us.
