Sometimes it costs more in the short run to clean up in the long run.
Can you dig up a study showing costs that include shelters like this needing to be rebuilt every few years? And all that goes into that?

They won't be able to, because advocates for the unhoused consider this temporary solution to be "inhumane".
IMO, this is the biggest problem facing attempts to address this crisis--people rejecting options that might help because they're not perfect panaceas.

If it's legal it can be done. If they are not legal dwellings then we have to provide better dwellings.

The advocates are kind of beside the point...

The advocates are often the biggest roadblocks to progress.

They can't be unless we're trying to break the law. If it is a legal action, there is no way an advocate can prevent it.

That's a pretty simplistic view of politics.

Are you talking about politicians who are advocates and have a vote? If so, then yeah... You have to offer a solution which is up to the standards of enough voting politicians.

I had a roommate in college who was from Condon South East of the Dalles and North West of Pendleton who owned a Trans Am. He told me hair raising stories of how people would get drunk at night and speed the empty roads around there with the pedal to the metal his uncle was the sheriff.l

I've had more than a couple interesting drives along 84 back when I was going to WSU and driving home. After graduation I had my dad's blazer coming back in early December and a nasty snow/ice storm hit. Remember cross the river after Tri-Cities and it started to snow, by the time I got just past Boardman it was coming down good but I ventured on, by the Dalles I it was total blizzard conditions and I had to stop for the night with no chains. Got up the next morning and white knuckled the last 90 miles of the trip trying to stay in the ruts made following the semi trucks. Took me over 3 hours to go those 90 miles.
