I took the leap and got Lasik and it’s been pretty amazing - life changing!

However, my protective goggles slipped as I slept and pressed against my eye and holy motherfucking shit did I wake up with the gnarliest pain I’ve felt in a long time - eye was maroon. And I’m still pretty light sensitive until it heals. Doc gave me simple artificial tear eye drops.

Even with that experience I fully recommend this procedure if you’re on the fence. A lot easier than I expected - procedure took 10 minutes. The longest part of the procedure was prep (waiting for the Xanax to kick in).

All together, medication included, was $4,000 even.

The best money I’ve ever spent in my life!

Look for a doc that offers the iDesign procedure - this is the most advanced Lasik system. In fact, the measuring portion was taken directly from tech developed by the James Webb telescope.

Not to wish misfortune on anyone but….pray for cataract surgery. At least as good as LASIK. I came out of cataract surgery with 20/15 vision after being damn near blind. Driving at night is a lot better too. And I understand it is more “permanent “ than LASIK(?). And it’s covered by insurance.

Out of pocket - but it’s worth it.

For the results I would’ve paid double, that’s how good it is.

ICL is another option - implanted lense similar to cataract surgery. Lasik is more precise though

Downside is when you get lasik in your forties or so…even if you don’t use reading glasses you will instantly have to use them after the surgery. So you pick one or the other.

I have an astigmatism. Does lasik handle that?

Why twice? First one botched? Or does it sometimes require more than one surgery? So then double the costs?

I don’t recall unfortunately. I insurance paid the bulk and I had to jump through hoops before they played it.

That happened for my mom. Contacts all my life, and then cataract surgery has her no longer needing them. She was stoked!
