No it wouldn't. Dame would go to a contender and contenders almost NEVER have assets. That's why Superstar trades are so insanely hard to pull off. The only guy I can think of that has done it more than once in modern times was Morey. One time he fleeced OKC for Harden (he looked like a star, but not a Superstar) and then next time he got fleeced by the Nets also for Harden.

Imagine having this right after the pelicans sweep. I mean, it wouldn't be this, but just that feeling of change back then.

I'd say the WCF run too but Neil wasn't gonna change shit after that, even though then it was clear too.

I don’t think length was the problem. It was effort, lack of awareness and lack of focus. It wasn’t like Dame and CJ were constantly being posted up by bigger guards. They couldn’t keep guys in front of them, not fighting through screens, falling asleep on rotations. These have nothing to do with length or height.

Ant actually shows potential of being an above average defender. When he was switched onto Ja tonight, he actually did a good job of keeping Ja in front of him. He’s also good at anticipating screens and fighting through them. He does miss rotations at times, but that will come with experience and coaching from Chauncey. That is actually the biggest x-factor: Ant will be coached by a defensive minded guard while Dame/CJ were taught by an offensive minded coach.

it was all ego. I remember quick saying Olshey would text him “TRADE CJ!” after every big game he had.

Olshey's two biggest problems were being too attached to "his guys" and signing bonehead contracts.

He also had a few stinky trades as well.

I'm just gonna say this once. When you are just posting about your read on the game and nuggets you've found, you're one of the best posters on the board. When you are responding to people you disagree with you're freaking awful. Just state your piece and then when people disagree use your great basketball IQ to tell them why they are wrong without being a dick. You're legit an amazing commenter when you aren't responding to others with hate. I say this just because you and I have gotten into it and it seems you have with everyone on the board at some point. I actually really like your posts quite often, but I never want to give you a like because I watch the way you treat people. If you dialed that back, you'd probably be among the most beloved posters on the board.

After the bubble, when Trent had proven he was ready to step into CJ's role, was the perfect time to trade CJ for a 3/4.

Probably not. Dude is a bully in every sense. He can't dial it back. He can't take the heat either when people give it back to him. He just ends up blocking them.

I don't know how we got here but kind of working my way backwards... getting it right and then getting it wrong with Gary, Collins, Biggie, overpaying CJ and keeping his ass far too long, all of the inexplicably bad contracts, letting Aldridge walk for nothing, trading The Thrill for essentially nothing. Yeah he had way too many fuck ups to have a GM job for 9+ years. He did get us Ant though.

I'm coming around. As I said in another thread, I've discarded the idea that a Dame/Ant pairing would be a reboot of Dame/CJ. And I'd like to see what a Dame/Ant/Hart back court would do with a training camp and pre-season working Chauncey's systems

On the Roster period. Imagine Him, Dame, and Simons with this ball movement for stretches. Open 3s every possession.

It's not any one mans team and Dame will fit in beautifully. Pace is the main difference and Dame can adjust to an uptempo game like the rest of them.
Did you hear Chaunceys post game interview and his comments about Dame? He's pumped and excited.

Well, we can't trade Dame until he passes Drexler on the scoring list

I cant remember where I saw it but think i found a comp for Simons as the SG next to Dame.

    Zach LaVine. He's 6'5 with a 6'8 wingspan.
    Ant is 6'4 with a 6'9 wingspan.

Lavine started getting to the line around his 5th yr. Think Ant can also do the same.
