I think the only 2 worth trading for are Grant or Collins. I think best “fit” is Grant, best upside is definitely Collins. I just feel like Grant would fit in immediately with Chauncey ball. I’d prefer Collins and think he would score more than Grant but overall I think we might be slightly better with Grant. Age and contract might even it out though imo.
yeah that’s why I wanna target one of those Minnesota forwards. Both are versatile defenders. The idea of giving mcdaniels to Billups is very intriguing to me.
After looking at the numbers it's so obviously Collins. I wonder if the Hawks would do this if the Pelicans pick lands 5-8. If they wouldn't and we made the playoffs I would even throw in a future lottery protected first.
Hypothetically… If that ^ happened I assume we would draft Smith and he would be our starting 4. My question is if we aren’t in the market for a Grant/Collins anymore who do we trade the other pick/TPE for? Or at that point do we just draft BPA? Thoughts?
Blazers have TPE's of 21M, 6.6M, and 3.3M. I think those are too valuable to toss away on spec going into a lousy free agent class
I think the dude you're quoting is wrong and we'll re-sign Nurk as well. Then I think we'll use draft assets and the TPE most likely to get Grant who Cronin was already pursuing. Like you said, that would make us an over the cap team and we would be under the tax so we could use the full MLE. If a bunch of people besides me are right and a Dame/Ant back court would kick ass (which I hope is the case): Dame, Ant, Nas or Hart, Grant, Nurk, Nas or Hart, MLE, Winslow and whoever wins a spot in the rotation between Trendon, GB3, Keon, our second rounder, Elijah, CJE and Didi would be a rotation and roster that could be really competitive and even contend in the playoffs.
Can anyone figure out a way to land Siakam for our lottery pick(s), while still retaining Ant/Nurk/Hart? I don't think there's a way...
We do what cleveland and Minnesota did with Wiggins. Guarantee Bledsoe, sign the two picks. Wait 30 days.
Another underrated four, at least on paper: Mike Muscala. Been a plus defender for three seasons now, doesn’t stop the ball, and is a very good shooter. Only scheduled to make 3.5M next season.
Vanderbilt for sure; but the Wolves are really well balanced now, not sure what kind of trade would interest them.
No, would still be an over the cap team. We sign our rookies to their normal rookie scales, which we could do over the cap. If we pick at say 8 and 10, they sign at like 4.4 and 3.9. Signed rookies have to wait I believe 30 days to be traded. So we finish the trade in August, but agreed upon at the draft, obviously. Still retain our tpes and full mle.
So what's the order of ops? This it? 1.Pick up Hart/Bledsoe options prior to the draft 2. Draft two rookies for ~ 9 mil 3. Sign Ant & Nurk This gets us over the cap. 4. Trade Bledsoe + 9 mil in rookie contracts (totaling around 29 mil) for Siakam. We still would have our TPE as you said to get another guy if needed.
Siakam, Boucher, and Precious appear to all play the same position - valuable PFs. The latter 2 are only getting about 20 mpg. Boucher is a UFA. It makes sense for them to not re-sign him, especially when Precious should already be playing more minutes. Any interest in him? Full MLE type interest?
the timing in these Bledsoe deals is going to be the biggest obstacle i think. We'd have to pick up Bledsoes 19 mil option before the draft. How palpable is that cost for ATL, even if he is an expiring deal next yr?
