The whole point is that you don't have to be shameful, no one except Tucker Carlson and the rest of those goofballs are telling you that. You just have to realized and acknowledge. Instead you chose to deny and be prideful. It's ok to be everything you are and still recognize that others have it harder for reasons you can't fully understand unless you have lived their lives, and race does play a part in that.

You don't have to feel shameful, just be aware.

No, what I said was that it would occur to me that Obama would've done things to help make things better. It's what he ran on. Change. In my opinion, he didn't do a blessed thing.

My conservative Black friends would chuckle. Really, they would.

And in your opinion the represent all black people everywhere? All native Americans and all Latinos? Women and transgender and people of all sexuality? Of all education status, immigrants and native born?

And you cite Tucker Carlson, an overt white supremacist. He cries about how white people, the real Americans, are being "replaced" by people of color. Remember the pro Trump Nazis in Charlottesville chanting "Jews will not replace us"? He has embraced open fascists.
And then play victim because you choose to associate with this ultra privileged racist.

When chuckling over these subjects with your black conservative friends, it's worth keeping in mind that some people will tell you what they think you want to hear. This is done for self defense or increased social or professional status reasons. For instance I have a few friends who think I am pro gun, I value their friendship for other reasosns so I see no need to correct them as it would most likely taint our relationship. In our forum setting I can show more of my specific personal feelings on subjects without risk of negative social interactions, I am not usually this honest or snarky on person. I think the Japanese call it private face, family face and public face. Some people are better at it than others because they have to be.

Yeah, I don't think so. There are some people who think that way, but most people don't.

You should feel uncomfortable about it, obviously. White Americans have benefited immensely from the suffering of minorities. If that didn't make you feel uncomfortable there would have to be something wrong with you.

But that's also why supporting equal access to healthcare and education are so important.

Are there? People make you feel ashamed? Constantly? You really think you are constantly reminded and told you are to be ashamed of being white? Hm. This sounds like regurgitation of Tucker and Cruz and those fools. Think for yourself.

ABM cries about being told he has privilege. How does he think Black people feel when white mobs scream at teachers and school boards not to teach anything about Black history? Furious white mobs threatening violence? How does he think LGBTQ students feel about DeathSantis pushing don't say gay law?
I can tell him how I felt as a Jewish child when I was expected to join my class singing songs with lyrics like "Oh come let us adore him, Christ our lord". I doubt if he cares. Probably glad that I got the shit beat out of me in playground because I refused to sing it. At age seven.

OK, once we get past the "feeling uncomfortable part", then what? From all I've been reading in here from folks who shared what their next steps might be, I'm pretty much doing those exact same things! In other words, I'm not focusing nor participating in the uncomfortable, privileged, etc., aspects. I realize all the historical stuff. I'm all about treating Blacks, anyone, really, just as myself. I haven't had issues taking that approach.

Jesus was once asked the most important commandment:

35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” ~Matthew 22:35-40

    You go, Ron!

Clay Travis on liberal media slamming Florida's COVID response: Americans 'voting with their feet'
Florida tourism surges to pre-pandemic levels despite media criticism of Ron DeSantis

CLAY TRAVIS: Ron DeSantis was right. If the rest of the country had done everything that Ron DeSantis said and did in Florida, we'd be in a much better place. Remember, we're still millions of jobs away from where we were in February before COVID restrictions and pandemic response began. People are voting with their feet. It's not only that Florida is setting all-time tourism records, it's that they are overwhelmingly experiencing growth. And much of that growth is coming from New York, from California, from Illinois, from states with the most restrictive COVID policies.

Why would you get passed feeling uncomfortable when thinking about benefitting from the torture of other people?

We can't even begin to get over that until we are no longer benefitting from that mistreatment.

Which means we have to acknowledge it and address it. What you are currently doing is neither. It must be systemic change. There is no foundation or group who can do it.

Only by supporting policies and leaders who would address these problems can we hope to move past them.
