When I was an early teen I met Clyde a number of times, there is no doubt that he is nice guy. My personal theory about why he is prone to be a critic of the moves our franchise makes is that he is constantly trying to justify to himself why it was necessary for him to leave Portland for his hometown of Houston. I think that he has to justify that our organization would have never have been able to get him a championship. So like he said about Dame the only reason he would have stayed would be to be worshiped by the fan base and area.

That sounds about right to me because he's pathological about it.

No, but I like Nates plan. The homeless can give a shit if Clyde wont. ;)

Again with the attempted mind reading, this time by someone who is paid to be a complete Blazer homer. I'm not a fan of what Drexler said, but am glad he was able to go home and win a ring. Not sure what is wrong with trying to get to the highest level. He gave it everything he had here. That was an amazing group and had the longest run at being a contender of any team in Blazer history. But they just came up short.

Who knows if the scoring thing means anything to him. If Dame stays here long enough, he will have most of them due to longevity. It's amazing Clyde still leads in assists being that he was a SG/SF, and Clyde will likely have the Blazer Playoff wins for quite some time.

Clyde should have kept his thoughts to himself, but the vitriol that comes out towards someone's opinion seems, well, that is a whole other discussion.

Mentioned it numerous times in here over the years.
My wife worked at Oswego Point and Clyde and the Blazers would dine there a lot.
My wife is a positive person never looks for bad in any one but Clyde was notorious for NOT TIPPING a Dime when he picked up the tab. Others did very generously.
Myself along with my kids were huge Clyde fans but hearing that really dis-appointed me. I know he was a finance major so maybe thats why he was so cheap.

    Just an opinion. OK.

I'm sure that if you had a mother who had left you and your moderately successful loving father for a millionaire, and then was telling your wife that she would be much better off if she were to do the same, you would write it off as "just an opinion".

If marriage is in the same category as a career, where the goal is to reach the ultimate level, then sure. Ask your wife if marriage and a job are in the same category. Will be interested in what she says.

I'm sure if past employees were repeatedly counseling your current employees to leave your business, you wouldn't look kindly on that either.

Thing is, for fans, this isn't just business. There's an emotional component to most non-vulcans when following a team.

The tnt all time draft from the All time a 75 + wild card, seeing Chuck's reaction to Kenny drafting Clyde matches my opinion of this nonsense

Of course there is emotion involved, but the goal is the same. If we take the marriage analogy, the average first marriage lasts around 7 years. Clyde was here 11+ years. Took that team to a contender status for a longer period of time than any other team in Blazers history. Got an opportunity to go home and win the ultimate prize. Personally, I was devastated he left, but happy he got the chance to win a ring. Years later, someone interviewed him and he answered a question. We can not like it (which I've stated twice I didn't like it and thought he should have kept that to himself) but it's ironic how much people are talking about Drexler's bitterness.....in some very bitter posts.

Clyde left and got a ring. So did Kersey. Was hoping Porter would as well, but he just missed. That the latter 2 claimed Portland as home, but Clyde claimed his original home as his home, we in large part seem to take quite offense to. And that's fine, as fans we are emotional. Just find it ironic that his bitterness is met with....so much bitterness.

I am grateful for the heights he led us to. Wish it would happen again soon.

Clyde A.K.A Houston Rocket Jock Licker has rubbed me the wrong way ever since he said, We're (Rockets) better than THEM ( Blazers) in a League Pass game many years ago. I get you're apart of that organizations broadcast team, but don't trample on the team where you played your best basketball, and fans beloved you. Them? You were them. He's seems to love nothing more than to see rip city fail.

Is it too early to rename it Lillard Lane?

How often does Clyde mention that his Houston team was lucky not to have faced Michael Jordan's Bulls in the finals? Probably never. He was in the right place at the right time.
His Blazer team, Charles Barkley, Gary Payton, Stockton and Malone, weren't as lucky.

loved watching Drexler in his day and will go down as one of my favorites. He was every bit as talented as Jordan but lacked the mental toughness to be as good as Jordan. Disappointed to continue to see him be negative about a franchise and fan base that had him as the their GOAT. Guess that’s why we really shouldn’t be doing the same thing to Dame as fans we should appreciate the loyalty he has shown us and our franchise. If he wants to and is willing to stick the tough times out we should do the same for him regardless of assets we could get in trade for him.

An ass take from someone (Drexler) who obviously doesn't want to have his name taken off the top of the records book.

I think part of my issue is the whole titles or bust defining a career. Current anti-vax shit aside, does anyone rank Payton over Stockton strictly because Payton got a ring and Stockton didn't ring chase at the end of his career? Does it make him less of a competitor? Dirk's team was aging and been knocked out in the 1st round 3 of the past 4 years before their title run. He was Dame's same age. Was everyone clamoring for him to leave? Should he have left and tried to join a super team? Was he less competitive for sticking around?
