I don't agree with those policies. Also, as I mentioned in another thread, I don't care if it's a church camp, checks and verifications need to happen at every level.

But truly it is insulting / condescending.

It is not for you, or anyone, to "work with it." It really has nothing to do with you, and so by you saying you are 'trying to work with it' seems to imply that you are better or above it or that it's about you in some way. Do you se that?

I have a nephew who is trans. I can tell you, he doesn't care a whit whether you, or I, feel comfortable working with it. It is his life, his body, his challenge - and it is a significant one. it's about him. How would you feel if he wrote that he is "trying to work with your heterosexuality"? Silly, right? Not his business.

Not your business to judge it.

Not sure the contents of this bill, but giving children hormones or surgeries in the context of gender transitioning is absolutely, 100% child abuse. Really fucked up.

Sorry, we all respectively "deal" with our own circumstances in our own ways. I'm not judging anyone. Bad behavior? Yes. Personal choices? No. In the case of my nephew, he's 15 and still hasn't decided what he wants. His mother (and the rest of our family) will 100% support him in whatever decision he makes. That certainly doesn't preclude her from being concerned for his future. Nor does it preclude me from the same. Again, he's 15. I just happened to have shared a bit of a personal situation on an anonymous forum. Don't judge me for that.

Or letting them drastically and irreparably change their body before they’re old enough to make such a heavy decision and having them commit suicide.

Explain yourselves then guys, why is it so hard for you to defend this logically?
Explain to me why permanently altering a child’s body based on their own immature and undeveloped sense of sexuality is ok.
You gonna open a tattoo parlor for kids too?

Yeah, a medical procedures for children doesn't seem right to me.

They should be accepted and loved for who they are as kids. And if they choose to get a surgery once they are an adult that's 100% fine.

But I don't think any permanent body alteration for a kid is a good idea, unless it's medically necessary.

Just my personal opinion, but I haven't seen a compelling argument to the contrary.

This is how I feel. I don’t think it’s too out of line or makes me a trans hater. It’s more about protecting children than anything else. I don’t care what adults do.

There's plenty of examples to what @SlyPokerCat brought up. Can you show any examples of yours?

It's not cut and dry. I don't disagree people should wait till they are 18 to get sex change operations and the such. At the same time, responsible parents know what the right choices are for their kids. Hopefully, they make them under the care and guidance of doctors and other members of the health community.

Can such actions become abuse, yes. But, to say it is 100% abuse 100% of the time is ignorant.

I care greatly about the safety of children and if any parent went about such things irresponsibly it would be child abuse, and it should be handled as such.

No, I will not be opening a pizza parlor. You had to bring Hillary into this huh? That conspiracy bullshit is uncalled for.

Surgery is not performed on people under 18. Trans youth do seek other gender affirming care such as hormones.

Gosh, I wouldn't think there would be surgeries on people so young. That's a relief.
Hormones for people so young seems sketchy, but if a medical profession deems it okay...

I honestly can't support a law either way. It should be between the family and their doctor.

I just wish healthcare weren't a for profit enterprise here in the US.
