You're seriously judging Chauncey based on the terrible lineups he has to run out there when the organization has shown the players that they want to lose???
No I’m saying we have not seen if he can coach. It’s a waste of his first season in my opinion. He isn’t learning how to coach when all they can muster is 48 mins if garbage time.
37 points halfway through the 3rd period? Are you kidding me? No, this isn’t a low point at all. Fuck you Cronin and fuck you Trail Blazer brass. This is some of the most embarrassing and pathetic basketball ever played at the NBA level. This is stuff you can go down to the Y and watch for free.
Seriously, exercise a little patience. It's going to be a horrendous 23 games but as you've pointed out several times you've been watching this team since its inception in 1970. That's 21 seasons and over 2000 losses... you can handle 23 bad ones. For real, this is not at all embarrassing. Try being a fan of a team like the Kings or Wolves. The shit we're watching is what they deal with almost every season. The fact that this is intentional is just smart business. It's a one off season, so we can have a brighter future. Try to think about this stuff with a little more nuance.
I'm hoping we get the first pick in the draft and there are two really good players to choose from so we can do the honk thing again!
Well-said. I’ve watched NBA basketball long enough to learn a few things, and I’m sure you have, too. I remember when the Blazers took LaRue Martin with the No. 1 pick, and Walter Berry, and of course Greg Oden. Good Lord. This franchise has made so many mistakes in the draft, I have no confidence they can get a difference-maker even if they’re in the lottery. Better to play hard, try to win every game, and let the chips fall where they may.
When my family got our first season tickets in 1970 I was already out of the Army so I'm certain I have some legitimate perspective. I call bull shit. I don't think management is doing anything of the sort. What I do know is that we really don't know although we each have our opinions and I have just expressed mine.
All teams have made bad picks and the Blazers have made bad ones and great ones. I'd say we've been a little better than average over the last half century as our win/loss record shows.
In response to players playing hard? They pretty much quit last night. I watched the game yes. That is until i watched players actively quit and not give a damn any more. Seriously this is not a good look at all and these guys are losing that willingness to even compete. That is what happens when you tank at this level. It's never a good thing and rarely gets you anything of value. Bad Karma all around.
I dont necessarily think it's the karma aspect but more so building bad habits. Sure the players on the roster now wont really be active next yr but this kinda effort and lackadaisical attitude permeates to coaching staff, etc
I'm impressed that in a game we lost by 38, Keon Johnson played 30 minutes and had a 0+/-. 15/5, 50% from 3. No TOs. Not bad at 19
I think if the team has trouble making the playoffs next season they'll trade Dame. I don't think we'll have trouble making the playoffs next season.
Exactly. You “quit” when the game is so far out of reach not even a miracle will help. This is why you always want to put the most competitive team possible on the floor. Losing like this not only demoralizes players, it fosters bad habits.
