Keeping our pick? This might be a Lottery year

Discussion in 'Portland Trail Blazers' started by TBpup, Dec 5, 2021.

?

Make the pick for the Future.....or trade it for 'now'?

  1. One last attempt

  2. Build for the future....one player won't make enough of a difference

  3. Get bad enough to where the pick makes an immediate impact

Duren has improved quite a bit throughout the year too.

He still could be better handling those 2 on 1 situations defensively in pnr or in standard help situations, but that's normal for a big his age. Will make a couple wild passes a game but I like the instincts. Sees the passes, just needs to iron out the decision making.

But man, it is incredible how physically dominant he is for a guy that just turned 18.

I have been impressed with Duren development over the course of this season. His post moves is getting better, he’s knocking down mid range shot. Defensively he is solid. He’s somewhere between Ayton and Bam. After a year he can replace Nurk

Haven't watched at all, can duren fit alongside nurk, or is he strictly a 5?

If we keep both picks and we don't win the lottery we should take this guy. If we do win the lottery and he's still available with the Pels Pick we should take this guy. I'm all about stacking our frontcourt as it's thin AF and we are STOCKED 1-3. Amongst all those wings we have, we must have a keeper or two. We just need a PF desperately and Jalen Duren looks great. I know he can't shoot, but that's a skill that can be developed. His coordination, size, and athleticism are something that cannot be taught. He has an NBA body along with NBA-level speed and coordination. This guy isn't even a project as his defense and rebounding will impact the game immediately. I've liked Duren all along but he's moving up in my internal big board which btw is focused ONLY on guys 6'8" or taller.

You draft him anyways and trade Nurk + something for a PF if he's strictly a 5.

I've liked him too and having a SF who actually has good size would be awesome.

Murray is going to be very good. He's a solid defender as well.
Think I prefer over over Duran.

If we draft Duren with our pick, Keegan should still be available with the pelicans pick. Duren, murray, and little would be a great frontcourt down the road

One thing to note with Keegan is he's pretty old for a sophomore. Will be almost 22 on draft night.

The shooting looks really good though. Tools don't stand out, but he pops off the floor off two feet. Quick and effortless even on a second jump. Can create a little off the bounce. Not the quickest but knows how use his body to create space. Has a mid post game. Can shoot off screens.

Definitely could see him being pretty efficient offensive player on decent volume. I like that he does most his work off the ball too. Knows how to make himself available.

Dude should be a top 3 pick

If he falls to us we must draft him

Wish more of these clips showed defense. We’ve have good offense I want to see a guy who gets after it on D and can guard multiple positions. Some one who has a motor that never stops gets rebounds, d’s up and can get you the hustle plays you need to win playoff series. Obviously Little has some of that when he stays healthy but would love that from power forward position

We had good offense from the guard position. But we still need better offense from the PF spot IMO

Definitely not saying I don’t want some offense ability but don’t want everything to be based on someone who scores. Would love a guy who supplied more defense and ability to hit some shots.

Yeah. First thing that jumped off the video to me, even more than the power on the dunks or his improving 15-foot jumper.
