Keeping our pick? This might be a Lottery year

Discussion in 'Portland Trail Blazers' started by TBpup, Dec 5, 2021.

?

Make the pick for the Future.....or trade it for 'now'?

  1. One last attempt

  2. Build for the future....one player won't make enough of a difference

  3. Get bad enough to where the pick makes an immediate impact

Chet is going to be an absolute stud. Don’t care about his weight kid does a little bit of everything well above average. IMO he’s got the most potential upside. I’d be extremely happy if we are able to get him and wouldn’t be surprised if he goes number 1. If it weren’t for his weight there’d be no question this kid is going to be superstar

Conveniently forgetting players like Russell Westbrook and Zach Randolph...

I've already compared him with a taller Kirilenko, but if you really want optimistic comparisons, a sort of cross between Bill Walton and Kevin Garnett. So fundamentally sound and defensively dominant. He's this year's Evan Mobley.

    Bargs... Oden... Bennett... Fultz

Really Oden shouldn't be on the list because the guy's body broke down and I think he would have been a beast if he could have stayed healthy. I think it's debatable if Bogut should have been a number one pick but he had a productive career.

It's almost like their coaches knew they wouldn't stay healthy with more minutes.

Well, he does play, he just doesn’t start. He plays quite a bit actually. A lot more than Collins did for the Zags.

Also I said best “overall” defender which may have been a poor word choice in my end. He can legitimately guard the 1-5 from tip to final buzzer. Is he Chet Holmgren? No. But can Chet guard PGs? No.
And I said he’s an interesting prospect. Not that he’s worth selecting #1 overall. Before the tourney he was a late FRP/people thought he’d return for another season.

For a guys his size and the ball came right to him, runway lane open, average dunk.

It appears in some mock drafts they’ve got him ranked ahead of his teammate, Kendall Brown…

    That’s quite a leap.

Scottie Barnes only started 7 games for FSU last year and Sochan has better defensive metrics. Almost identical size too although likely not as long.

Not the same offensive prospect though. Shooting projection isn't as good. Solid ball handler and passer for his size but not at Scottie's level there either.
