This is a trade we could have made:

The #leafs are sending two second-round picks and a third-rounder to Seattle for Mark Giordano and Colin Blackwell.

Seattle retaining 50 percent on Giordano's cap hit and salary. Leafs were able to get this done without spending a first-round pick which was important to GM Kyle Dubas

Wonder where they'll turn for a defenseman now, maybe Colin Miller. Giordano would've been a great fit.

Apparently Gio wanted to go to Toronto.

Sounds like Fleury could be headed to the Wild.

Vatrano seems to be fitting in well so far.

Yes, good add, and even better when Kakko is back and we add a top 6 forward tomorrow.

Imagine if we could put Vatrano on the 4th line with Reaves and Rooney. Goodrow-Chytil-Kakko on 3rd line, Panarin-Strome-guy added, Kreider-Z-Lafreniere. Amazing depth. Upgrade LD also and we can play with any team IMO.

Right now we would not beat the Canes in round 2. We wouldn't be able to score enough, and guys like Panarin and Fox wouldn't have the room they need to score at even strength. We need more.

Maybe Drury has some huge blockbuster simmering with the Blackhawks for Kane or Toews? :emotions:

Toews blows now and his contract is moronic.

I think whatever add drury does will be small. Unless some team bites hard on Georgiev. They can play with any of these teams now with Igor. In fact, they already have. No sense giving up all the assets now in ripoff deals for rentals. Note to chuck…..the unbeatable hurricanes have now lost 4 in a row. Far from unbeatable. The key to beating them is to pound the shit out of them!

Is that what the Rangers did last night?

Yes. It wasn’t obvious to you? LMAO. They’ll get kakko back and hopefully an upgrade over nemeth and with Igor let’s go. The rangers are the more physical team and will hit the hurricanes every opportunity come playoff time and they don’t like that.

The Rangers were utterly dominated last night. It is awesome they won the game, but if you cannot see that I don't know what to say.

This is the NHL, and most games are close, so yes the Rangers CAN beat any of those teams. But as is they are not as good as the Panthers, Leafs, Canes, and TB. After that I think they are on the same level as the Pens/Caps. Yes they can beat any of those 4 teams, but they would be an underdog, and if they played like last night in a 7 game series against the Canes they'd lose in 5 or 6.

The Rangers need to add. It is pretty clear. I don't get the thought process of not spending close to the cap this season, and not adding at the trade DL. That is a total waste IMO. Let's see what Drury can get done.

No, what was obvious to me was that the Rangers got outshot over 2-1 and got bailed out by their backup goalie playing arguably the best game of his entire career.
Yeah, the Rangers are a very physical team but one of the major reasons for that is because they play the majority of virtually every game without the puck. Try checking/hitting/taking the body when you have the puck and see how many penalties you have to kill.
Very happy with the win last night, anytime you beat a team ahead of you in the standings is a good night. However, this team still has glaring weaknesses, puck possession is a big one. A more concerning one is lack of scoring depth/balance of scoring.
Their top line as currently constructed has accounted for 79 of their 189 goals scored (34 of those 79 on the PP). Their 2nd line (using Vatrano's season totals) is at 41 goals. If 79 to 41 isn't a huge cliff then don't look at the difference between the 1st and 3rd line.
Teams that lack scoring depth do not last long in the playoffs, even with the best goalie. The Rangers need to add a player that can help balance the scoring threat. IF Miller is available, he would be the player to target.

Brandon scanlin looks like a nice under the radar ncaa free agent signing by drury yesterday. Kid is LD 6’4” 214lbs and 22 yrs old. Said to play with a mean streak and especially clears people out who linger in the crease.Depending how they feel about him this could free up Robertson for a possible trade. Biggest thing I’d like to see is an upgrade over nemeth unless kakko is not coming back. Then they need a forward also

Rangers acquire Braun from the Flyers for a 3rd round pick. An RD...depth move. boring.
