Mrs SPD just told me to tell you that the spamming isn't too bad. She says it was mostly email and texts, only had 2 phone calls.
Its just that there is a less than impressive dealer network with Kia. I'm sure its gonna get better, but I hear horror stories when something does break under warranty. Just read facebook comments under any of their posts.
OK, so I figured out what some dealerships are doing now with this. They are installing "dealer installed accessories" which are pretty useless. things like an alarm for $2k, some coating on the paint for $2k, etc. The costco auto program doesn't give you discounts off these items or they only give you 20% off. Then they can claim they aren't doing "dealer markups".
You should be able to see the sticker of the car either on the dealer's website or the manufacturer's website.
I'll have to see if those are removable, they can always say no, just like I can walk away. I'm using the fact that I don't have my insurance payment settled yet as an exit
If you know the exact make and model of your car you want go back to the Costco main page for the Auto buying program and enter a zipcode for the opposite end of LA from where you are or for Portland or Seattle. https://www.costco.com/auto-program-services.html See if you can find a different Costco dealer that has fewer dealer add-ons. That's what we did and how we just found the Kia Niro Mrs SPD wants in Renton. For a $5000 savings and no dealer add-ons, IMO it's totally worth driving across LA or going out of town like SF, Portland, Vegas, etc.
I remember they tried to charge us for some stupid ass things like a plastic sheet around the bottom of the door frame for protection. I told them I didn't want that. They love to charge for stupid add-ons and warranties.
Yeah, I asked what the "pro pack" was and it was a little piece of rubber the glued kind of like a mudguard on the bumper. I was like WTF.
yeah, my mom told me I should get a Jeep or Chevy maybe, I was like: no. The jeeps my parents had came up with a bunch of problems. I had a mercedes, it was actually pretty great but anytime something needed to be fixed it was a thousand bucks.
I got a second phone call, this guy wasn't as pushy as the first. I may be able to work with him to get the amount out of it I want.
I liked my wrangler back in the day, but I wouldn't buy one from them now. I like my Ford F150 but overall we have had zero issues with our Camry.... other than it constantly getting hit by other cars.
